I’ve gone to the range a few times and only hit 4 iron, it’s really improved my ball striking. I figured if I can consistently hit my 4 iron solid and accurately then it will trickle down to all my other clubs because it’s the hardest club for me to hit.

It’s definitely helped me a lot.

I would think this wouldnt help unless you are playing one length irons, but I suck at golf.

Idk why but this reminded me of "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball"

Don't carry a 4, but I'll do that with my 5 iron. I certainly feel more confident when I go back to my other irons, but not sure if there is a translation from a 5 iron to an 8 iron, but it certainly inspires confidence in my 8 iron.

I find that the real secret to a 4 iron is....

getting rid of it and getting a 4 hybrid lol.

At first I felt silly for not carrying an iron above a 5 iron, but when that hybrid launches the ball nice and straight and high with an easy swing I get over it.

I bought a 7wood to replace my 4iron but I’ve instead replaced my 3hybrid and put my 4 iron back in. I really only use my 4iron now for long runner type shots, my 7wood is basically my catch all club for anything between 215-240 now

4 iron

Don't have a 4, but I have a 22° 5 iron. That's almost like an old 3 iron. I generally even leave that at home and carry a 7 wood instead, which is 21°.

That’s actually what Ernie Els used to do, for the same reason.

I warm up with a pw, then 7, and rest driver. Full swings 100%. It’s not healthy or smart.

It was replacing a 3 iron for me. The 7w I think is going to stay in the bag. I hit the 3i better for now, but the higher ball flight from the 7w I think will outweigh the 3i as I get more experience with it.

I’ve started hitting mine more often at practice. My 4i is a Ping icrossover though set at 23.5 and upright. Face on that thing is super hot it’s literally a situational club during a normal round because also have a 7w.

But i have found hitting it more often warming up let me hit 5-7 iron a little better it seems

What’s funny is I bought it to replace my 4iron but it’s actually replaced my 3 hybrid. It’s slightly shorter but where my 3hybrid goes 230-240 and hard for me to control or swing softer, my 7wood goes 220-230 and I can hit it way higher and also choke down and hit it shorter
