Dog jumping fence

I wouldn’t put any kind of wire at the top. Too easy for the dog to get hung up. Happens a lot. Paw goes on top of the wooden fence, dog’s body goes over the wire and comes down on the other side with the paw wrapped in the wire. Drop any electric wire down at least a foot or so from the top.

We have a dog, essentially a "foster failure " that we couldn't adopt out because, among several reasons, she could easily scale our 6 foot privacy fence.
We moved, then I built an 8' privacy fence, yet she can still scale that, too.
She uses the 2x4 cross members as "steps".
Bottom line, there are no perfect solutions in my opinion.
I was once told to try "coyote rollers" long cylindrical rollers mounted at the top of the fence that would keep a dog from getting over a fence.

How about an underground fence 1-2 feet from the wooden fence? We've always had the underground fence and has worked great for multiple dogs.

Probably would work well too.

Same thing applies though, some dogs will take the lick to get the squirrel.

I had a catahoula cur once that learned to climb chain link fences. Eventually, I strung a hot wire along the top of his fence and it worked wonderfully. He got shocked one time and never tried to climb the fence again.
