What is the best way to properly value an original painting?

I’m clearing out a house and came across two original Marjorie Burbacher oil paintings. I googled the artist name and only found that she passed in 2016, and one sold listing from FB marketplace. I considered taking it to an antique consignment shop, but would like to know what I have.

What was it sold for in the FB listing? Not everyone’s work has value.

According to her obit she was a member of the Metairie, New Orleans, and Le Petit Art Guilds. Call one of them and ask if they can direct you somewhere.

First, when searching, try spelling her name correctly. The one on FB went for aboot tree fitty.
I would guess to ask a curator at a local art gallery.
