Frankly, at least for my use, this completely obliterates what Chase just did. I can organically use a number of these coupon credits and while I still don't know if I am going to keep this card once the fee increase hits, im at least thinking about it now

Ya, if you start by accepting the world we live in with the coupon book to offset the absurdly high fee situation, they did a good job with this.

Whether you want to accept that world is up to the consumer.

Sounds like both the Resy and Lululemon credit are applicable immediately so if you use either by the end if the month, you should get your credit

As is the entertainment credit increase

Just renewed last month at the old annual fee. I am really happy with this refresh and will be sticking around.

Youtube is a good add to the digital credits for me. Wasn't using this after Audible was dropped.

Have been putting off buying an Oura ring since I was gifted a sizing kit for Christmas. Will buy one now, but this is more like a one time coupon.

Hotel credit change is huge for me too.

The Resy credits are making me question keeping the Gold card.

Hotel credit increases from $200 to $600

With the refresh, the Amex Platinum Card now offers up to $600 in hotel credits annually. This is a semi-annual credit, so you receive up to a $300 credit in January through June, and up to a $300 credit in July through December.

This credit is valid for prepaid Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts or The Hotel Collection bookings through American Express Travel®. For The Hotel Collection, stays must be at least two nights, while a single night stay is valid with Fine Hotels & Resorts.

I fricking hate this bullshite. I love how they've managed to complicate a fricking hotel credit

I might have missed something, but isn't this the same process, but instead of only getting $200 once per year I now get $300 2x per year?

I'll have look at it more closely, but I didn't see anything that complicates it. Even if I use it once it is still more than it was by $100.

My understanding is that its 300 through the end of June and then another 300 through the end of the year

I'm speaking in general, not as a shift from what this card previously did. Simply rueing the shift from "$X for anything coded as travel" which was common a decade ago to all the hoops that are necessary now.

Yeah, that's what I thought. I think it's the same process as before. I travel throughout the year and will be able to use this naturally, so I get $400 more in credits per year by using their portal for a second trip instead of just once.

I get that. For me this change works, but it was simpler before all the rewards hoops. Unfortunately all the rewards are baked into prices so if you don't play you are subsidizing those who do. Fortunately I have a lot of spare time.

So does everything else remain?

The Saks Credit and $200 Airline?

If so and you can use them, it doesn't seem bad at all. I'll take the Lulu over old Equinox credit any day of the week.

Can get a new pair of pants every quarter for 30 bucks.

The added benefits outweigh the higher annual fee by a lot.

Yeah, just saw that added YoutubeTV to the digital credits too.

My renewal isn't until February and the new stuff already in my account. This is great!

What a move by AmEx. Right after Chase just made their card significantly less valuable. I'm pretty certain I'll be switching to AmEx when my chase card renews next summer
