On Bayou Black still open?

As far as I know Bobs is still open. Their lease is coming up for renewal from Williams again and they were trying to sell. Parish made a lowball offer but don’t think bobs took it. Last I heard they were in negotiations to keep it open at least through duck season.
Eta: I’ll be out that way next weekend.

Yes it is open. Live not far and pass by on the way to church.
The water structure has been closed, but you just have to press the button for it to open. It'll close from time to time due to increased salinity.

You sure, Cannons you have back across the highway to launch? I can’t find anything saying it’s open, guess I’ll have to check it out

They are not good about letting you know if its open or closed. Just have to show up. If you don't see any other trucks/trailers, the water structure is probably closed. But they had people this past Sunday.

That kinda sucks. Coming from my direction Cannons is the best way to get into Decade and south for winter trout. Easy boat ride compared to driving thru Houma

Sometimes.
If anyone knows anyone in the parish can you please find out why we pay to run the electric pumps and hanson and keep the gate closed?
That gate maybe closed 2 times in 40 years before that pump station was installed. Now we pay to run the pump and haul grass out the bayou instead of just leatting it flow out.

I assume youre referencing the Minors gate being closed when the Hanson pump is running?
The Hanson pump was installed as forced drainage for the swamp on the north side of the highway to drain the upper Terrebonne Basin. However it was poorly studied and engineered. They quickly discovered that the water recirculates up Minors and into BB and the various canals running north of their into the very basin they're trying to drain. Hence the need to close the Minors gate.
Orange Grove is generally dying off due to the additional water forced through from the Hanson pump. Particularly the northern portions. That water isnt clean fresh water, its low oxygen/polluted junk water from the Swamp basin to the north. Lawsuits are filed or being filed because of this.
Another reason, is that they need rebuild the levees, clean, and dredge the Hanson all the way to the ICW to force that water.
Additional closures are needed to limit the salinity levels in BB, as that is part of Houma's drinking water. The introduction of the Morganza levees and various other projects in the Western marshes of Houma forces salinity up very direct channels into places farther north than traditional history.
