ETA: new interview with Leo and Benicio
However, it sounds very political so I'll be excited to see how this board feels about it

‘One Battle After Another’ Review: Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn Are Brilliant in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Mesmerizing Vision of a Police-State America
DiCaprio and Penn lead an extraordinary cast in a film about autocracy, revolution, Christian nationalism...and a father and daughter torn apart.

Political struggles never die in “One Battle After Another,” they just repeat. Or maybe they grow older and become paranoid, pot-smoking, pajama-wearers like Bob Ferguson ( Leonardo DiCaprio ), a washed-up revolutionary living off the grid with his daughter, Willa (Chase Infiniti). The cycles of oppression and resistance are palpably felt in Anderson’s film, a decades-spanning odyssey where gun violence, white power and immigrant deportations recur in an ongoing dance, both farcical and tragic.

A film about legacy, about fathers and daughters, about the fight against an all-too-real American government hellbent on white supremacy, militarism, and oppression. Yet it also manages to be one of the most touching and absorbing thrillers of the year.

Zach Pope Reviews
A Perfect movie one that is a jaw dropping spectacle! PTA out does himself here with maybe THE film of his entire career. Exhilarating, intense, heartfelt, funny, but poignant to modern America. Simply It’s one of the best Films of the decade

A drama rooted in revolt, “One Battle After Another” is inherently political but refuses to be defined solely by its ideologies. Instead, Anderson makes the story personal above all, even as it engages with leftist activists, authoritarian tyranny, and the forces pushing back against fascism.

Altogether, Battles is easily one of the finest films this year, and it ranks highly among Anderson’s best. It’s politically incisive without being reductive or preachy, action-packed once it’s rolling, and punctuated by brilliant moments of comedy.

Consequence
It almost seems like production on One Battle After Another wrapped yesterday, yet while its focus on issues like immigration and the rise of white supremacy are all too relevant, Anderson never loses sight of his characters.

Cinematic Reel
Confronting today’s political climate with unflinching precision, PTA crafts a bold, action-packed, and hilariously sharp epic that hits his once-a-decade masterpiece quota. A quintessential GIRL DAD triumph and a defining moment for American Cinema.

Discussing Film
OneBattleAfterAnother is one of the most definitive American texts of the decade. PTA has swung the door wide open for a new frontier in how politics will be depicted in cinema. Plus, Leo is at his funniest next to the great Chase Infiniti!
quote:
ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER: Grips you from start to finish. Intense and relentless. It’s also a massive swing & PTA has made the kind of movie that truly speaks to the current times we’re living in. Loved DiCaprio’s performance. Need to see it again.

A new PTA and the worst posters are boycotting? Sounds like a win-win.

More make believe. I’d never miss a PTA movie, I commented on a movie reviewer. You lie like breathing.

And this is why Spielberg and other Hollywood figs loved the movie so much.

I love PTA, I love Leo. I will pass on this one.
Its nonsense, hollywood will eat it up, but the Overton Window has shifted right, I don't think this will be an audience hit

I love how it’s become impossible to discuss movies on this board.
