Im seeing all this outrage at the Trump administration for removing photos and artwork depicting slaves from national parks. At first, I wondered why they would do that.....but then I also wondered why in the world are they displaying this stuff in national parks? Shouldn't that stuff be in a museum somewhere? (If I go to Yellowstone, I want to see beautiful landscapes, mountains and waterfalls....not pictures of tortured slaves. We should preserve history for sure....but there are places for that..... Just a thought...

There's artwork depicting slavery at national parks?

But, why?

We have been shown that statues of slave owners should be removed,
isn't this simply the next step in the progression of that line of thinking?

Speaking of Yellowstone, the signs warning you to stay on the boardwalks lest you fall through the crust and into the scalding water depict a cartoon white woman and girl reacting in shock to a person falling through. In the background cartoon brown people are safe on the boardwalk.

The idiot person on the sign that is falling through the crust? A white boy. Of course.

I don’t think posters of slaves for sale or picking cotton or in chains is appropriate. None have been for sale since December 1865 with passage of the 13th amendment and no one alive today owns any.

Besides, all the evil old Confederate statues have been removed too. So why have posters

Talk about it in school, sure. Teach about the War Between the States. Put it in context that 600,000 people died to end it. But it is history. The problem was ended

So all the visitors from around the world, swayed by our natural beauty, can be reminded that America is an awful place and we're terrible people.

Or....

Maybe they're teaching in School these days that Slaves built the Grand Canyon.

History suggests that you leftists are untrustworthy, vile goose-steppers that see violence as a preferred course of action.

1930’s Germany
The Soviet Union
The CCP
Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge
Al Queda
ISIS
ANTIFA
BLM

All violent, all left.

Congrats I guess.

Lulz. No way they would have ever shown a minority child falling through the crust and we all know it.

The problem in 1930’s Germany was not the Left. Far from it.

Correct. It would be paranoid to think that constantly highlighting that slavery was a thing until 1865, and never ever mentioning that a bunch of white people died to end it could result in violence. It isn't like we are seeing violence do to shite being hyped up and calls for violence from elected officials.

Yeah until that happens. It is just paranoia.

Wrong as usual.

Nazis AND Commies are far left.

Two sides of the authoritarian coin.

That’s why I refer to your ilk as communazis.

The first national park wasn’t established until 1872 (Yellowstone) with the vast majority being established in the 1900s. The first in a former slave state not until 1921 in Arkansas. What exactly would have been the purpose of having Slave artwork in any of them? There’s really no historical significance of having them in a national park.

ETA: upon review, it’s a famous photo showing scars on the back of a slave from Louisiana. It has previously been displayed at the National Gallery and Trump ordered it taken down. Not sure I agree with that.

All part of the blame game. Make whitey acknowledge his guilty past. Even though no one alive today has owned a slave. That ended 150 years ago.
