I’ve never been to a show there. There is apparently standing only on the floor, and seating in the balcony. Is that right?

I don’t want to stand the whole show. How is the balcony seating? Good views?

How far is it from the stage?

There is seating on the balcony, but it’s only the first row-closest to the rail and I believe it’s reserved for VIP/Foundation members, but I could be wrong about that. The seats have great views of the stage if you can get one.

Standing is the charm of this venue.

Why not? Standing for an entire show is kind of the norm at a venue like that.

Because I have evolved past that stage of concert viewing.

There’s a stair-step area that wraps around the main floor downstairs with hand-railings every 10-15 feet or so.

My go-to is to grab a spot on one of the steps and lean on the railing…you’re close enough to the stage but can also see above everyone on the floor.

It is small enough that views are good everywhere...UNLESS you're seated directly behind people who stand up the entire show... but that's the case everywhere except arena's with severely sloping seats.

I've gone to some shows that had seats put on the floor in rows... and that made people NOT go on the floor except for the first couple of rows and the higher bar areas were all too packed... which made the band kind of like "this crowd is lame" and drop their enthusiasm about playing (and cut the show short compared to other shows on that tour). Saw the same band about a year ago and there were no seats on the floor and it was packed.

I've managed to sit in chairs in the upstairs center for a couple of shows by getting there early and being with someone who didn't want to be on the floor. The upper section on the left side of the upstairs section in the pic is reserved for the Foundation Room members with a waitress taking drink orders (I've seen a couple of shows from there with friends who are members... but usually just joined the rabble on the floor by the middle of the show because we have more fun that way). The lower-level left seated section is also reserved for VIPs and Foundation room members, I believe.

Thanks for the great summary. Regarding the "The lower-level left seated section is also reserved for VIPs and Foundation room members" how is this section noted on ticketing sites?

Also, how many rows of seating are there in the Center Balcony?

That pic is not the New Orleans location. There are no seats in there.

Those seats on the sides are not in New Orleans. I think they just have stools along the balcony. There is an area on the bottom with some tables though.

There are several rows of balcony tickets available for multiple shows, left, center and right balcony.

The below photo is a random show. I looked at several others and they were the same:

Any idea how to get access to these?

This is New Orleans

There's no room for stadium seats in the balcony. The tables at the bottom are probably VIP.

I believe you, I'm just confused where I would be sitting on the 9th row of the left balcony, if there is no seating there.

he's right... I need to stop drinking...

there's benches (I could swear there's been seats in the past)... outside the Foundation Room on the left there are sofas, stuffed chairs and tables...

(note "row" designations on the benches on the left)

I noticed they'd remodeled things about a year ago... took out the cool windows of the dressing rooms that overlooked the stage from above... I didn't go out into the upper level...

My memory is screwing with me a bit... I have watched the stage from that Foundation Room area... and I was seated in the upstairs center for a Decemberists show about 18 years ago or something... I thought it had a back on it.

So the ninth row on the left in the balcony would be a spot on the bench at the top, the second row of benches... at least you could lean back against the railing.
