Bogey and Bacall (1946) Novel by Raymond Chandler and Bogey is a perfect Philip Marlowe. Bacall takes a man’s breath away and is sharp as a tack. A great duo trying to one up each other before hopping in the sack.

My favorite:

Taxi Driver: If you can use me again sometime, call this number.

Philip Marlowe: Day and night?

Taxi Driver: Uh, night's better. I work during the day.

The holy trinity of plotless, inscrutable films.

We had it all. Just like Bogie and Bacall.

Inherent Vice is an amazing movie. The plot is there, it's just hard to see through the fog.

I haven’t seen it in a long time. About every two weeks, I go through the upcoming TCM movies and DVR a bunch of them. I DVRd The Big Sleep yesterday (I’m guessing that’s why you posted this). I’ll get around to watching it again in the next week.

Referencing racehorse, Bogey tells Bacall that she shows some class, but wonders if she can make it to the finish line.

Bacall responds “it depends on who’s in the saddle”.
Nice. lol…

Bacall is such a horrible actress she almost ruins the pic. Dorothy Malone was fire. Amazing that Hawks did one film noir and it’s canon.
