Saint Francisville

Do you know Mike Wampold that owns Woodlawn and Longwood Plantation, I think all together he has 3200 acres or so in the Saint Francisville area, up towards the Mississippi border. .

I dated his younger sister years ago and kick myself in the arse every once in a while thinking about (what might have been) having access to that property

I don’t know that name. 3200 in that area is big money.

I saw a 153 acres up for lease in Livingston. $39 an acre.
Insane.

I don't remember him hunting much but I'm sure his family and friends use it.

Nothing like sitting in a nice sheltered box 100 yards from a feeder. I mean give these damn deer a sporting chance at least. This isn't even hunting.

Ride side by side to woods. Walk in 100 yards (maybe). Sit down in comfy office chair. Feeder goes off. Deer come out. Bang. Drag him home.

Just like our forefathers imagined

Only took 6 post for someone to sh!t on your parade.

I have been waiting for 8 years now at our current place for the feeders to turn on and the deer come running.

I enjoy the hell out of hiking through public woods, climbing a tree, and watching the world come alive. It's a challenge, it's intimate, and I love it.

However, I also love going to my buddy's farm every once and a while, riding his side by side to the plot, walking to and hanging out inside the shoot house, sitting in that comfy chair, taking a piss in the piss tube, and watching the world come alive from the convenience of that shoot house. Although it's different from the challenge perspective, I feel close to nature in both situations and thoroughly enjoy both. Happy hunting.

You sound poor and use “I hunt public for the challenge” as an excuse as to why you don’t have a lease. Grow up cause the jealousy stinks in here!

my forefathers drank scotch, hunted hogs on horseback in Tensas parish. They are up in heaven mad they didn’t have feeders or box stands.

My step-dad and myself have been hunting the St. Francisville area since 1990ish. The prices these days are insane. He's 71 and he has finally tapped out. Last year in the place we've been hunting since 2002. I think they went up to $50/acre for this next 3 year lease starting 2026.

Thx Sig.

I manage a lot of social media accounts and platforms. There are just some folks that see everything negatively. Part of life.

On a different note: check out three new visitors I got today. I have not seen these three at all this year.

The way they are fighting. It makes me think that they’re siblings!

Does Coming to the feeder

Coming from someone who has recently had half his back fused and can’t climb a tree or walk miles to their “secret spot”, I respect having a feeder a few hurdles yards away and being able to hunt that location. You were posting a video of deer, which was enjoyable, and some people take for granted. This is a place where everyone should appreciate just the fact that you posted some cool videos and pics, like others have, regardless of where your stand might be.

Which would be a sporting chance

I get no joy from shooting a deer with its head under a feeder, but that's just me

they would have an even greater sporting chance if you only used your hands, but you don't do that do you?

My point is, hunting can be accomplished in many ways, and our European ancestors brought a method used for thousands of years to North America (dogs) bc it was effective. The "ambush" method is also not new. I have no doubt that many native Americans have sat long hours at a watering hole in arid regions waiting for a thirsty animal to come by. Not much different than sitting over a feeder. And, if they found a method to harvest animals more effectively, they used it (see "buffalo jump").
