Houston just tore up Neville 16 for 23, 70%, 275 yards, 12.0 ypa, 1 TD. 75 rushing yards, 5.5 ypc, 1 TD rushing. In just 1 quarter vs West Monroe, Houston went 7 of 9 for 140 yards with 2 TDs. I can't find stats outside that 1 quarter, but that's 16 yards per attempt and 80% on West Monroe. Wouldn't be surprised if he had 300-400 passing yards on West Monroe

Peyton Houston 2024 stats:
4500 passing yards (nearly 2.5x Nuss or Haven's yards)
70% completion rate (highest of the 3)
38 TDs (highest of the 3)
6 INTs
Over 10 yards per passing attempt (highest of the 3)
700 rushing yards (highest of the 3)
7 yards per carry (highest of the 3)
7 rushing TDs

Let's compare this to little Nuss stats last year:
1900 passing yards
59% completion rate
8.2 yards per attempt
16 TDs

Elijah Haven:
1850 yards
65% completin rate
9.6 ypa
27 TD
430 rushing yards
5.8 ypc

Evangel plays some of the best high schools in the state. Same thing about Jayden going into the draft. Look at Caleb's senior year stats vs Jayden and the SOS each played. Jayden put up honestly the exact same kind of stats as Peyton Houston, just at the SEC level. I think same for Anthony Richardson, one could foresee he wouldn't pan out in the NFL if you looked at AR college stats. Houston has stats in spades moreso than the other QBs we are looking at. I think he'll end up having the most successful college career of the ones we are looking at.

I say this regardless of whether we get him or not.

You put forth a compelling case. I am buying in.

5'10 made me raise an eyebrow. but it sounds like he can sling it.

1- Haven 2- Nuss 3- Houston. In that order. I know I know, all that matters is money, but with Billy possibly getting fired that has got to help our chances with Haven. Nuss is a must. Houston would be a great add but he'd also be a 2-3 year development project.

I’ve seen lots of others say the exact opposite. I’ve read that Nuss is ready now, Houston is close and Haven is raw, but has highest ceiling.

Please list your scouting qualifications. Genuinely curious about the basis of your assessment

He's at least 6'0 now. That must be an old measurement. Dude can play and is basically the same height as Garrett Nussmeier.

Best Dual threat guy of the three and I think the dual threat guy is best suited for the college game. Having a running QB is a problem for defenses

I think Haven asking price will be too much for LSU and forget about Florida, way more schools will get into the bidding war

I'm glad LSU has Houston in the fold for 27
You can't let him get out of state
LSU likely gets two in the class for 27 if they don't sign one for 26 class

Will be interesting to see if they think Van Buren is the next guy or do they have to hit the portal instead

I was curious about this. Is he 6’ now. Idk if that’s everything for a college QB but I’m just a fan

In terms of upside, is agree.

Hes the only 1 of the 3 that isn't a 2-3 year project. Hes a kid that could easily slide right in as a freshman if necessary. Hes very far along in his development. That is the reason he is #3 in the original list. Hes about as maxed out as you'll find at qb. Think Bryce Young/Julien Lewis. Both those kids were so far ahead of their peers in terms of positional development that the lack of upside was glossed over. Houston is very much in the same mold. I wouldn't be surprised in the least if he were easily the best college player of the 3 in terms of career accolades.
Though he wouldn't have been my choice I can't really make an argument against taking him because of his floor. Im not really convinced any of the 3 are elite so bird in hand is fine. Houston plays elite in hs for sure. Let's hope it translates.

I think this is the most realistic and levelheaded assessment. Get two, have them compete and one will probably transfer. That’s how you settle a debate on which QB is ready - on the field. Portal as needed.
Don’t need another Underwood situation which is what Haven’s recruitment is starting to look like

My question is:
If Houston was listed at, say between 6’0” and 6’2” or so, would the recruiting services have him ranked higher?
Much like the NFL, which is what they say they model the recruiting rankings on, some weight is placed on the height of specific positions. But, that doesn’t automatically correlate to the college game.

I never played college ball, but in the late 80’s I was a high school QB in an I formation pro-type offense. I was 5’10”. Mind you, my offensive line had three linemen who went on to play college ball. I had a hard time seeing over and around some of those guys and had to slide around a lot. I wonder if 2 or 3 inches really makes THAT much difference as I never thought about it before. I mean, I still had to deal with defensive linemen with their long arms in the air

I do think Houston is the best pure thrower of the 3, but your stats are misleading.

Stating Houston had 2.5x more passing yards than Haven is correct but he also threw it 443 times compared to 191. Houston's season stats included playoffs vs Haven's regular season. When you add in Haven's playoff games (2 more than Houston), his stats look like this

3093 passing yards ….completed 191/321
37 TDs
7 INTs
925 rush yds
19 rushing TDs

I’ve watched little Nuss’s highlights and Houston’s and Nuss doesn’t even come close to Houston. Houston looks like the type of QB that can take over a game and win it himself. Nuss looks like Max Johnson on most plays. Sorry but i heavily disagree.

Houston ain't Brees and I know you know that...I hope he turns out to be a stud but we have a short QB Hurley who was all everything too at 16.. he won't see the field and will transfer.

EVANGEL is a great HS with amazing talent but it ain't the SEC.

HOPE I'm wrong
