In perhaps what could be an interesting development Jack Pyburn threw a key block to spring Durham on his long run near the end of the game.

Pyburn was on offense?
Are you talking about B sharp?

Umm our defensive end was in to throw a block? Are we sure about that?

Eh. Was bad defense & good vision by Durham that made that play successful

It was bad defense because college defenses no longer have to game plan for I formation with a lead fullback. It obviously caught Florida off guard & unprepared.

For a back that already has good vision, making one read & cut based off the block of a fullback was easy for Durham & his track speed did the rest.

Payton had a really good game against Clemson.
totally agree with that... but has disappeared since... he's getting PT, so he's not in the doghouse, he's just not really making that huge of an impact, or it's not translating to any warrantable stats...
it's still pretty early in the season, so maybe that will change, but considering he had double digits sacks at FSU, and we heard great things from the coaching staff before the season, i just sorta expected a little more on the stat sheet from him, at this point...
not saying the dude is total bust, i'm just saying relatively speaking from the hype, #1 transfer porta guy overall ranking, etc, to now, he hasn't quite lived up to it... Gooden has exceeded those expectations... Cooley, Haulcy, they've exceeded expectations... Pyburn and Payton, getting PT and all, but don't really have all the much on the stat sheet to show for it

He made several good plays against Florida as well. He’s been everywhere. It doesn’t always translate into stars. If the DE gets a ton of penetration that leads to a tackle for loss for the linebacker it’s just as good as getting a sack

DJ Welter used to be "everywhere" too, and i wouldn't exactly say he was all that great...

And Pyburn threw a good block to give Durham the edge.

Correct and that’s why you need to use your eyes and brain to see who is playing good and who is not. He has been fine. Certainly good enough not to transition to offense as your idiotic post alluded to

Berry would have scored. More speed

A score was not necessary given the situation.

it was CLEARLY hyperbole.. i'm not truly advocating for Pyburn to move to FB...

so far this season, he's accounted for 1 solo tackles, 1 TFL and 0.5 sacks.. in 3 games... not exactly holy shite numbers, woudn't you agree? it's early, so he may eventually come into his own, but to this point, he's been underwhelming vs. all the rah rah bullshite we heard about this guy coming into the season...
he's also "assisted" on 10 tackles, though, admittedly, i don't know how they quantify and attribute that stat.... like is being part of a huge pileup play "assisting" on a tackle?

but even given that, Durham is our RB1... once Berry puts on another 10lbs of muscle, he will be a fricking force, but for now Durham is the guy...
i did notice that Kaleb Jackson, at least as far as i can remember seeing, didn't get 1 snap on offense last night... that was interesting to me

I dont see another 44 on the roster.

I do not completely disagree. He’s never been a guy that’ll eat up a ton of tackles and sacks like “star” defensive ends typically do. And am not labeling him as a star. But my point is when the linebackers are shining it usually means the defensive ends are doing their job which has been the case. If they were getting blown up or losing contain we’d be having a ton of issues that we currently do not have because they have been doing their job.

Was somebody who’s number started with a 4 for sure… couldn’t make out the 2nd number… white guy too

The hidden story here is that it was actually Whit Weeks who made the block. He put on Pyburn's jersey for the play.
