Now that we’re in the ‘Ber months, I’ve started getting into my spooky season reads. Currently finishing the All Souls Trilogy (A Discovery of Witches). Might re-read Frankenstein this year, Poe is always in the rotation as well.
What are some books that are your go tos during the Fall months?

A Night in Lonesome October by Roger Zelazny is great spooky season sendup material.

I'm starting with Dracula, as I do most years

I picked up The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones a couple months ago based on a recommendation here. It’s a western/Native American vampire story. I haven’t read much horror so I don’t have a lot to compare it to, but I really enjoyed it.

Yes, Dracula is always my first!

I normally read House of Leaves this time of year. But I understand that the book isn't for everyone.

I like it.
Just genuinely curious if anyone is reading anything different.

I reread Dracula every couple of years in October.
Edit: Whoa, there’s a lot of people here that love Stoker’s Count. Nice. Allow me to show off a newly acquired treasure;
I wanted this ever since I saw one in a bookstore as a teenager back in the 1980’s. Couldn’t afford it at the time. Found a really nice, almost pristine copy recently. It has a forward by Frank Langela, and Hildebrandt’s illustrations are simply outstanding. You can look them up online.

I'm not sure that they are re-reads but I really liked Wylding Hall and John Darnielle (lead singer/songwriter of The Mountain Goats) has written a few books that fit the vibe imo.
Wylding Hall is an oral history of a 70s era band that went to this English manor to record what became a legendary album. The lead singer disappeared before they left the manor and 30ish years later the band is meeting with a reporter to do an oral history.

Looks like it’s also a KindleUnlimited right now, so picking it up.

Last year, I read The Exorcist around this time and didn't sleep for a week. Would recommend!

It was good. Definitely had a great, creepy, unsettling feel to it.

Read that 30 years ago and slept with the lights on one night. Creeped me out.
