When’s the last time a 5* player decommitted from another team and committed to LSU?

Dom Mckinley, Weston Davis are the first to pop in my head. The sting is greater than the joy in that scenario

Can add reliford (was commited to atm) and even echols as well since he was heavy auburn/ notre dame lean and we came out of nowhere to steal him late.

Honestly the class of mckinley, reliford, weston, echols is what gives Kelly's team a chance this and next yr. I think the staffs ability to flip these kids, with 0 dline coach was unreal. It might be what saved and right sized Kelly's job. Time will tell

Pretty sure Ja'Marr Chase was flipped too, no? If he wasn't flipped he was definitely not going to LSU until the last minute. Don't remember entirely on that one or if he was even a 5* but who cares? He was a 5* here.

Ja’Marr Chase was commited to Florida, but decommitted and signed with LSU 3 months later. Crazy to think that he originally committed to the Kansas Jayhawks before dropping them for Florida

I think the reason he committed to Kansas if memory serves, is because he had a former HS coach (or family friend) on the KU staff.
It was just a ploy to help the coach in recruiting other players. Everyone knew there was zero chance Chase was signing with the Jayhawks.

Correct. Had a few LA kids commit/end up there in that time. Pooka Williams, a board favorite, was one.
Chase also had a brief TAM commitment between Kansas and UF.
