Read that from Kelly at his presser. How is it possible you aren't playing the guy whos been repping as the backup all summer, fall camp.
No shite he looked lost. Tough position to play as is, and he's naturally already a bigger then normal guy playing center. Seems like thats setting up the kid to fail. He struggled last yr so no excuse there, but it was also his 1st year ever playing center. Hopefully this week hes more confident getting all the reps there.

A couple weeks before the season, they moved DJ out of the competition for LG and placed him as the backup center, and he seems to essentially be the 6th OLineman since he came in at LT for Tyree in a series against Clemson. DJ is the only guy on this team that can adequately play center without Braelin Moore. He's being a tremendous team player in my opinion.

I saw him play Center the entire practice on 8/23 when Braelin Moore sat out.
The other backup is true freshman Bordelon. Go ahead & throw him out there if you want a repeat of last year vs Florida

What makes you believe that, baset what i have seen from him so far he seems to always be on rollerscates...at lease thats what my eyes tell me that and hes good for a false start penalty or two.

Yall need to stop knighting for him. He was the worst graded C last year and did not seem to improve at all.
Glad he wants to contribute, but he is just bad!

DJ was our second best lineman behind Adams this past weekend

He played 13 games at center last year. Good grief. They know what he brings to the position. During fall they were trying others to see how they would do.

No, it's what the other retards on tigerdroppings are telling you, and you want to fit in so you join the group think narrative.

This. He may not be the best at center, but he is willing to give it all he has.

Chester isnt the best at any position, but hes our 2nd best center, 3rd best guard, and 3rd best tackle. He is the first guy in at any position on the offensive line. He is incredibly valuable to be that versatile.

He had a good grade last week
I’m more concerned with Davis at RT

In 2019, Chasen Hines was our backup center. He didn’t start at all that year. He played a season-high 36 snaps against Vanderbilt.. at left guard.
Garrett Dellinger wasn’t a starter most of the 2021 season. But he did start 3 games at left tackle. And then he started 1 game at left guard when Ed Ingram was out. In 2022, he started the first game at center then became our starting left guard.. and backup center. I’m pretty sure he remained the backup center for most of his next 2 years at LSU. I’m also fairly certain he continued to take the majority of his practice reps at guard considering he was the starter.
My point is this: you don’t always have a clean 2-deep at every position. Sometimes your first guy off the bench at one position is also a backup or even starter at another position.
This is further complicated by ongoing position battles throughout fall camp. Moore probably locked up the starting center spot pretty early, but we know there were competitions at guard and tackle. If Chester was competing for one of those spots, it would limit number of reps at center. And you said it - his natural position is not center. So it makes sense that he’s going to see the most reps at a position where he might actually earn the starting role.
Luckily (or not depending how you look at it) for him and the staff, he started 13 games at center last year.

Not knighting for him.. just didn't expect to hear he wasn't getting 2nd team reps, and was the guy to go in. Thats it

Echols was listed as the backup Center last year, but he played few if any snaps there.
