US War Department To Shift Focus From China To 'Threats' In Latin America

This is retarded. China is our biggest threat and needs to be the focus. China kicked our arse and now we are backing down to go after Venezuela?
This is a huge mistake. China is our biggest threat and we are backing down.. unbelievable
"US War Department officials are proposing to shift the US military posture away from a focus on China, instead prioritizing alleged threats in Latin America and the Caribbean, Politico reported on 6 Saturday.
A draft of the newest National Defense Strategy places "domestic and regional missions above countering adversaries such as Beijing and Moscow," Politico revealed, citing three people briefed on early versions of the report."
Politico notes that the move, if implemented, would anger politicians in both the Republican and Democratic parties who have long been hostile to China and called for aggressive policies to counter its rise.
"This is going to be a major shift for the US and its allies on multiple continents," said one person briefed on the draft document. "The old, trusted US promises are being questioned."

Exactly.
I’d deal with China economically while pushing them out of the western hemisphere nation by nation including in Canada and Mexico.

China has a population problem. Xi needs to create more jobs for the population than possible. Militarism will not solve that. Deal with China by strangling their economy.

Yeah because we all know how well the US has handled the “ China problem” thus far…
More than half our politicians are compromised or bought and paid for by China ops, they are buying land around sensitive areas (ie military bases) locally, they basically steal IP like it’s a snickers at a ghetto seven eleven. But sure, we are going “lax” on China now.
All horse shite

When you have China, Russia and India as allies, you basically can't beat that combo with The US and all lts little dick brothers in western Europe and the Angloshere.
I guess that $50B annually is mil contracts will now go to South and Central American drug wars that will last the next 25 yrs and nothing will be accomplished.
I guess logistics will be way easier than Afghanistan, but this feels like a giant surrender, because it is.

Probably not a popular take but I'm not sure we need to keep Taiwan if we pull the industry out immediately. Let them break themselves on the shore of a husk praying for a pyrrhic victory.

I don’t think China or India are worried about their population problem; they offload their people to Europe and North America.

Trumps just handing the world to China/Russia/India at this point. Embarrassing too. A complete cuck.

Are you kidding me? Before the Trump administration, our politicians on both sides have been more than willing to suck on China’s dong.
Coincidentally Tim Waltz is likely looking for a young Chinese dong to suck on now.

Actually a big part of this is to get China and Chinese influence out of South and Central America where they can threaten us.
