That by the time they become entrenched in their careers, most people will look down on them. You know, like they do attorneys and car salesmen.

They don't care. They just want easy money.

Every person is different - even med studens. A doctor that chooses to educate himself beyond the standards of current western medicine is a treasure. A doctor who is nothing more than a pill dispenser is a hazard to public health.

In the end, you have to have a populace that is willing to listen to common sense. Lazy people would rather pop a pill than eat a clean diet and have moderate excercise. Each will find what he is looking for in the medical field.

Most doctors, like everyone else, just want to go to work and go home to their families after. Individuals aren’t really culpable for systemic failures.

Just a PSA but gastroenterology is the biggest scam field in all of doctoring.

AI bots are going to handle a lot of medical needs.

It is not easy for most, but medical consumers are least informed of any consumer you can think of. You buy a car, you research every possibility available. If you are on a special diet, some take the time to understand the different options available to them. You need a hammer drill, you read consumer reviews? With medical care, you find a doctor and trust everything they say. I'm lucky as I have a little background and I can do some research. But most, just "OK doc, whatever you say".

Emergency care is a different topic. What they are doing now for cardiac surgery is a bit of a miracle. Chronic long term disease is another matter. It's so disappointing to only get some type of prescription and to try the "Mediterranean diet".
Much of main stream medicine is controlled by pharmaceutical companies. That includes medical schools and legislative bodies.
Answer me this batman, why aren't naturopathic doctors licensed in all 50 states? They take as many or more classes as osteopaths and infinitely more classes on diet and nutrition.

Not true. We all have websites that review us, including Google. Also, you absolutely have the ability to “doctor shop” as much as you would like. I see patients all the time as their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc opinion trying to decide which surgeon to choose. It’s 2025, there is no excuse not to inform yourself.

Now with that being said, a lot rural Americans may not have that option in more medically scarce areas. But you can always travel

This is by design.

The medical field is big on gatekeeping and shaming those who ask questions.

I believe medical students go to school for that kind of stuff, Robin

Licensed by whom? You want people who don’t go to medical school and residency, to be “licensed” by the board that is meant for people who go to medical school and residency?

Make it make sense.

If you couldn't get accepted to medical school, just say that.

And if you want to go see a "naturopathic" person instead and have them do your surgeries etc, knock yourself out.

I’m a doctor. Some are great, some are incompetent. Some are good people and some are bad. Some have good intentions and some bad motivations. Just like every other profession, the quality of the person varies behind the labcoat. My job isn’t to force anything on you and you don’t have to come to my clinic or hospital. Make your own choices, I’m simply the one laying out the options when you ask for my help.

I'm with 50% of the public is below the average IQ. Now maybe the upper percentiles can do what you suggest but I've heard a patient call an EKG a "heart-a-ground".

I vividly remember going to a doctor for a physical. He looked at his computer more than he looked at me.
It made me think, if someone came up with software the public could use that helped diagnose blood work and urine analysis I wouldn't need this guy. Did you know that most blood and urine lab analysis can be done without going to a medical clinic? Why isn't this available and used more in our culture?

It probably should be, but also look at the States it is licensed in, and come back to me. I'll give you a hint, Robin, they also mostly allow things like medical marijuana, decriminalization of nonviolent drug offenses and other things. Are you for that? For the record, I am

This is what I don’t get about all this “doctors are all bought and paid for” nonsense.

Seriously, if you don’t trust doctors….don’t see a doctor. No one is forcing anyone to make an appointment with a Big Pharma shill. This is completely within your control. I don’t trust financial advisors. I don’t start a million threads about them…I just don’t interact with them. Problem solved.
