we were winning the battle for a bit this summer when i put little bowls of water w/ dishwashing soap out at strategic places, had a bottle of ZEVO and i had a mix of hydrogen peroxide and water in a sprayer.

in the last 3 days they have EXPLODED all over the house and i am losing my shite. yes we have tons of indoor plants but we love them and so i'm not getting rid of them; i've examined them but can't figure out if there is a particular one that is at fault. also poured bleach down all our drains but i dont really see anything coming out of them.

HELP i need a thermonuclear option

Spray soil of houseplants with insecticidal soap

For drain flies I boil a big pot of water & dump it down the drains

I have put press & seal over my sink drains at night to see if that’s where they were coming from

We have a lot of plants and I've never found them to harbor insects. When we have had fruit flies it's usually something outside that is the source . Many times it's our compost pile which is at least 100' from the backdoor. It can also be a trash can or even something at the neighbors. The best kill solution I've found is leaving half a tulip glass of IPA out overnight. They live the IPA aroma and dive into the glass. In the morning it will be full of drowned flies.

We had this issue really bad about three years ago
. Called an exterminator because it was getting worse not better. He said that they come in with sod (we lived in a brand new house … not sure how accurate that is) but he left us some bait which has dinotefuran and methylguanidine. Worked within 24 hours. Not sure if that is consumer grade but we haven’t grown arms out of our forehead yet. Spray it behind the trash can in the kitchen drawer and that’s usually the end of it.
