The Athletic has been informed by the Alliance for Creativity and Entertainment (ACE) — a coalition of 50 media and entertainment organisations including Amazon, Apple TV+, Netflix and Paramount — that an operation alongside Egyptian law enforcement officials took place on Sunday August 24 to disrupt Streameast’s dominant position in the illegal streaming market.
Traffic to the site reached 136million average monthly visits, with domains primarily originating from the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, the Philippines and Germany.
“ACE scored a resounding victory in its fight to detect, deter, and dismantle criminal perpetrators of digital piracy: by taking down the largest illegal live sports platform anywhere,” said Charles Rivkin, chairman of ACE and chairman and CEO of the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
“With this landmark action, we have put more points on the board for sports leagues, entertainment companies, and fans worldwide — and our global alliance will stay on the field as long as it takes to identify and target the biggest piracy rings across the globe.”
Two men were arrested on suspicion of copyright infringement in El-Sheikh Zaid in the Giza Governorate of Egypt — which is approximately 20 miles west of capital Cairo — and have subsequently been detained. During the raid, authorities seized laptops and smartphones suspected of operating the sites.
In addition to confiscating cash and multiple credit cards, investigators also uncovered links to a shell company in the UAE allegedly used to launder advertising revenue totalling £4.9million ($6.2m) since 2010, plus a further £150,000 ($200,000) in crypto currency. Multiple real estate properties in Egypt are also suspected of having been purchased with illicit revenues.

Stealing is OK when it's stealing from TV execs and sports teams

Fans love paying for 3 different streaming services to watch NFL games.

Hopefully two more pop up in their place, we went from having games broadcast OTA to now needing multiple subscription packages in order to watch our teams.

Imagine being so poor you want to stream 480p football games to your laptop instead of paying $80 to watch it on the 85”

It can't be found on Chrome and Edge browsers, just like Ublock Origin can't be downloaded on Chrome on Chrome anymore. The web browsers are colluding to stop any attempt to block ads or not pay for sports streaming.
I still found Streameast on a different browser and watched it last Saturday.

I was just starting this thread. Came to check one more time and saw yours.
Guess I gotta be faster than that.

ETA - here's a link to get around the paywall if anyone would like to read the article...
Streameast, world’s largest illegal sports streaming platform, shut down in sting

At the time of publishing, Streameast’s original domain is no longer active, however a selection of posts on Reddit suggest that back-up domains — or those purporting to be replacement services — are now up and running. One of those platforms carrying the name Streameast claims to be “the ultimate destination for free sports streaming”.

its like these greedy bastards have learned nothing; keep raising prices, subdividing content between a zillion streaming services and adding rules that prevent you from using the app when you're travelling or sharing with your family members and lets see how that goes.

Wasn’t it like $50 to stream a couple LSU baseball games in 480p last season?
I remember when it was $50 to watch a Jefferson Pilot football game that was almost unwatchable if you cut it on TV larger than 32”.

Imagine being so dumb you don't even realize you can watch it on your TV.
Also, GFY. I use sites like this for UFC and boxing matches, among other things. It's not about being poor. Tired of paying for 100 different streaming services for movies and another 100 different streaming services for games that are generally a shite product and don't even offer everything you want.

Only thing I used it for was out of market NFL games, but I’m good with it being shut down

The O-T has always been interesting on TV issues because everyone acts like a baller, but then brags about doing all these poverty things to watch something they are really interested in. I pretty much stayed the course with my boomer cable and ended up with where this guy wants to be.

To be fair they have made it intentionally more difficult to get access to all content
I miss good ole cable

It's good for baseball as well since almost every game in the world is blacked out
I don't watch much baseball, but it comes in handy from time to time for it.

Add in how they seem to make the product lose some nice features every once and a while with the price raise, its absurd
