A few weeks ago I inquired about the COSM venue in Dallas on TD to see if anyone has ever been to gauge the experience. I got 50/50 ratings but decided to go anyways. I ended up going for the Clemson game.

First off, we had a great time at the venue. The atmosphere was so electric, especially with all the Tiger fans that showed up. The screen makes you feel like you have 50-yard line tickets. The broadcast is awesome, and they have a DJ in-house who plays music during timeouts, breaks, halftime, etc. I did not try the food, but it seemed like it was ok, especially the ice cream sandwich. The service was really good and attentive.

Overall, it was like being at the game with really good tickets, at an indoor stadium with a waiter.

Now onto the best part!

Right before the game, the DJ gave some updates of upcoming events and welcomed everyone for coming to the game. During this announcement, he says, “Will poster TIGERALLTHEWAY” on Tigerdroppings please come up to the booth. I was like, wait, that’s me!

So I go up there and I’m greeted by a guy in a suit who says, “So, our CEO of the company made it a mission to find you! Where are you seated, we have a gift for you”.

Apparently, the CEO (UNC alumni btw) saw your post and during a conference call with 700 people told them that I needed to be found and shown appreciation for posting about the venue and traveling from New Orleans to watch game. They ended up giving my party and I gift boxes with COSM drip and a thank you letter with “Geaux Tigers”. Awesome experience, and I still don’t know how he saw post.

1) what is COSM?

2) why would an LSU fan fly from New orleans to Dallas to watch a game being played in South Carolina?

3) why would a CEO or GM care if someone posted something about them ona message board full of people that don't live near their venue? Not only that, but your thread was 2 pages. Its not like it took off and garnered a bunch of attention.

Original COSM Thread

These are honest questions.

Edit: Story checks out.

Pretty cool story honestly.

We are visiting friends in Dallas later this year and we were considering it too.

1. Smaller version of the Sphere in Vegas.

2. I thought the concept was cool, but I decided I was not going to game, so I decided to COSM and the Dallas area for the weekend.

3. Your guess is as good as mine.
If I knew how to post a picture, I would post the items I was given and the paper with my username they had.

It's way weirder to come up with such a story. I have pictures if you really need proof. I don't know how to post them tho.

Oh I believe that it happened. Just seems like a strange series of events.

I thought it was cool. I had at least 2 managers come up to me. It sounded like the CEO appreciated the attention to the venue and the fact that I traveled to his establishment. I asked the same question regarding how this came to happen, and one of the managers said he had no idea because he is a UNC alum and not an LSU alum. Maybe someone he knows was on the thread, maybe he googled COSM and found he recent post. I don't know. Very cool either way.

That is definitely a really cool story. Plus LSU won so it made everything that much better.

I saw it on an episode of Welcome to Wrexham. It looks like an awesome place to watch a game that you can't be at personally.

If people don’t know what COSM by now after it is shown on 90% of TV broadcasts, then you must not watch sports

I had no idea what it was either

But then, my interest in sports is the actual sport, the teams and the players. "How to experience watching" isn't way up on the list; that comes down to "see it live", "see it on my home theater setup", or "see it out at a bar/restaurant with others"

Double down on being a blowhard prick.

Still not sure you know what it is.

Outside of the very thoughtful gesture..it's also really good marketing. If I was a CEO of anything involving food and alcohol I'm welcoming LSU fans with open arms

Hopefully we'll take over every LSU viewing they have. Win win for everyone involved
