Holding penalty on last punt

Did anyone see it? It was called on #31. All I could tell was that he was shocked.
Great win, but we need to avoid those mental mistakes. Also had a holding on fair catch punt reception. Twice should have downed punt inside the 5.

Def something we need to work on. Got a lot of holding calls on punt returns last year too, IIRC.

I saw it. He basically tackled a Clemson player, before we caught the ball. Unfortunately, you can't do that.

My personal opinion. The powers that be want to take the return game out of the game. It's the most dangerous play in football, but there would be a revolt if they actually tried to remove it.
So I believe those same powers that be got together several years back and just simply said we're going to throw a flag on every single freaking return. We're not going to change the rules, we're just going to flag every return until coaches just fair catch everything. We're literally going to browbeat anyone who insists on making this a part of their game.
The percentage of punt returns with some sort of infraction feels like 70 or 80% across college football. And they got what they wanted.... Most teams just waive the arm, catch the ball, and call it a day. I knew that flag was coming as soon as there was a return of over 10 yards. Such foolishness must be punished.

No, they hand fought while running down the field basically locked together for 30 yards. Clemson player was either pushed down at the end or fell down.....either way it was not a hold.
LSU had 2 punt return holding penalties and another one on the O.....none of which were shown/reviewed on the TV. Did they decide to quit showing those penalties so it would be easier to manipulate the scores/outcomes with fake holding penalities.....you know, like they did in the old days before widespread TV cameras embarrassed them?

Special teams cost us at least fifty years on two plays.
Woodland missing on the 2 yard line hurt too.

Yep, it was a like a block from the side…..not a hold…..the refs knew if LSU got the ball at the 40 whatever line, it would be easy to get in field goal range,,,and they could essentially, ice the game……

Our special teams was down right bad.
Two holds, two failed downed punts, horrendous net punt yards on the final drive.
And a missed field goal.
The only positives from that unit was the 52 yard field goal and they didn’t turn it over.

If you paid attention to the entire game to that point, you would know this is the correct answer.
Even if LSU doesn't get a FG, the ball at midfield essentially ended the game. LSU could run three times and punt Clemson inside the 20 and that would be that. The only way Clemson scored prior to this was being ushered down the field by the refs.
Instead, LSU gets the ball at the fricking 18yl LOLOLOLOL. Then, after punting, Clemson got the ball around midfield to try and tie the game.
Wasn't it exciting though?!?!

You are right. That’s why I laugh every year when fans are excited about their return game. Your return game is going to be fair catching punts and watching kickoffs sail through the end zone. Rarely there will be a return just to keep people tuned in so they can show a commercial afterwards.

They break to a sideline feel good story or some kind of injury update avoiding certain replays all together.

I watched it on replay...not the best angle, kinda zoomed out, but nothing obvious. From what I could tell, the Clemson guy just fell down when they were pushing each other back and forth. Seemed like a no call would have been more appropriate.

Was at the game so missed it. Watching the ABC replay I disagree with the holding call. Jimcoly was step for step with the guy and looked like a good block from the side and the Clemson player just fell down and Jimcoly fell with him too. Another BS call from the refs in the game.

Well, your position in this context makes no sense inasmuch as they do not blow plays dead for holding penalties.

There was something off in ABC's coverage. There were 5 or 6 times I thought "sure would have been nice to see thar on replay."
It was particularly annoying on Klubnik's possible intentional grounding. Instead of ever showing a replay or letting us hear the official's explanation, they elected to mock BK's response after last year's loss to USC.
