It's obvious Gundy wants no part of new college sports environment where players get paid.

OSU should fire him now.
He wants to criticize Oregon and whine about how they should play teams on their spending level after just playing a patsy who is nowhere close to OSU spending level.
Wasn't Boone Pickens outspending most teams across the nation during his heyday.
Talk about a hypocrite.
Something tells me Gundy has no shame in taking his paycheck.

I wouldn't say they should fire him. But it was definitely a stupid comment considering that OSU just played an UT-Martin and has Tulsa coming up after Oregon. G5 and FCS schools aren't on the same spending level as OSU either.

If he's scared to play highly ranked OOC opponents, then he should take it up with OSU's athletic director since they have control over who they want to schedule for the non-conference schedule.

Gundy has yet to get OSU to the next level and he’s been there since 2005

To be fair, look at what kind of program OSU has been historically. Prior to Gundy, they had only finished ranked in the top 25 a total of 8 times in their history. In Gundy's 20 years, they've finished ranked 11 times and were a missed FG away from playing LSU in the BCS title game in 2011. Gundy has taken OSU to the next level by their standards.

Gundy has elevated OSU to heights which were absolutely unfathomable prior to his arrival.

When he took over, they had an all-time losing record (471-493-48). Now, they're 60 games above .500 (641-581-48).

Your statement is so far removed from reality that it's clear you don't know what the frick you're talking about.

Maybe they should pay more, one of their best players got arrested for theft at Walmart the other day.

Gundy sure isn’t 40 anymore…

He’s done great things there but I doubt they go higher, and if he continues to live in past, they will regress.

Such a whiny response to being scared he's going to get his arse kicked in one non-conference matchup. The Big 12 is probably as even a playing field as you'll find so he should just be grateful for that.

Theyre probably not capable of it no matter whom they get

Agreed. I think they have hit their max.

Given all that, how much longer does he coach for?

1-Why would OSU throw in the towel now? To be fair, they do have squeamish admins: remember when Chubba Hubbard threw a fit over Gundy wearing a t-shirt on a fishing trip and they threw Mike under the bus instead of cutting Chubba, getting his student visa revoked and shipping him back to Canada?

2-Playing FCS or teams from lesser FBS conferences has long been a traditional practice in college football.

3-T. Boone gave north of $1 billion to OSU, but only just more than a quarter of that was for athletics specifically. A lot of that was for the football stadium and the golf course.

Maybe Mike's raising legitimate criticism in an inartful way. College football is a professional sport now and needs salary constraints similar to other professional sports.

He's making a preemptive excuse for getting his arse kicked by Oregon and probably Texas Tech. Coming off UT Martin and with Tulsa, with a smaller enrollment than some high schools, concerns of a level playing field ring hollow.

Imagine the offense LSU would have had if we had selected Gundy over Miles....or over Orgeron. Burrow would have had a 4000 + yard season in 2018 alone. Hell if we had Gundy with Mettenberger we might have taken Bama in 2012
