Simply understand what im telling you.

This offense isnt gonna blow you out of the water, not yet.

If i sat you down and told you friday that LSU was going to score 17 , you would say "frick. Another shitty opener".

But that is NOT what we saw. Our players didnt actively avoid tackles. They WANTED to hit others. They were violent. They ran the QB down.

8 times, EIGHT TIMES i witnessed Tigers lunge at a running back and face tank all that momentum just to bring that fricker down.

Credit should go to Brian Kelly but let me fricking tell you that the lions share of the victory feast belongs to Blake fricking Baker.

I have not seen an LSU defense attack like that outside of that one special year in 2011. Not 2014. Not 2012. Yesterday.

We do not need a record breaking aerial assault to win this time. We need serviceable, and it will be so much more than that after a couple games.

That defense would have done damage in a playoff game TODAY.

I have never seen LSU flat out dominate a top 5 team like that defensively outside of , you guessed it, 2011.

It wasnt the stats (even though those were great), it was the fricking attitude.

Ill put the chips down, LSU will be in the playoff. Defense will win chanpionships again. We might not win it all. But holy frick, Saban is gone and one game in nobody else looked good enough to drop 28 on this squad.

Bookmark me, frick it.

There's a lot to like. I just hope moving forward that we open up the offense a bit sooner.

Havoc rate is about to explode. I kind of expect it to be 100 against LA Tech.

Thats just it. There is now the wiggle room needed for the offense to frick up and figure things out.

It reminds me of the sustained success Notre Dame had under BK, except now we have an 18 million dollar roster and the best DC in the sport.

LSU was never in control of the first half. And half the 3rd quarter.

I hope we don’t sputter that much the entire season.

Have to figure out how to close out games and run out the clock.

Other than that; the kids showed a lot of heart and played their asses off. And all of the glory should go to them.

I knew the D was going to be much improved . The O-line is what surprised me . This team will be fun to watch this year .

The D was led by the energy of Perk snd Weeks. Those guys sold out and everyone else got involved. Great talent, the D line was outstanding and the D backs were athletic and capable. They played hard

Nuss led the offense, he looked like Burrow did in 2019 with his command of the playbook and leadership. He stayed involved with motivating both sides of the ball. Durham is a tough guy, he took a lot of hits. The O line played with pride and purpose.

Overall, the effort was excellent and the talent was obvious

OMFG here we go again. we always hear this shite. How do we know right now we have the best DC in the game>? u jagoffs said this over and over for years whilst chavis and steele and aranda were good they were not always the best. saban and muschamp were the best in 2003; chavis was 2nd best in 2011.

baker looks great THUS FAR

the season just started kid.

So we started slow in the first game of the season on the road vs a top 5 team?

I’m sure we will be fine.

I hope so. And I will be the first to eat crow if so. I just think we get too conservative at times during the game. Similar to Miles to a fault.

Kelly’s credit should be in embracing modernizing football operations to help with player retention, NIL and scouting, getting the boosters on board and the money to assemble this team, and working with Thomas and his staff to target and bring in the right guys. Like in 2022, we did a good job scouting and finding the right fits. That’s made a huge difference.

As for this game, the first half was disjointed, partly due to play calling and a couple of bad decisions. There were some player execution issues, as well. But this more experienced team came out in the second half and took control of the game. The preparation came out and showed up. That’s good on the whole staff, but the head coach sets the tone there. The bad goes on Kelly, but there was definitely more good than bad.

I absolutely agree Baker deserves all of credit for the turnaround on defense. They are playing the way he wants now. And now he has the roster to scheme the way he wants at all times. We all saw the difference. They know what to do and are playing with confidence. You have to be confident in what you are doing to play fast and physical without making mistakes.

Go watch the film breakdown of Clemson’s last snap. That’s literally some Saban-level shite. It was like watching the 2019 offense on the other side of the ball. They disguised the look, dictated the matchup, and got Clemson to do exactly what they wanted. Then they blew up the play. Really impressive stuff.
