Looking for recommendations on pretty much any hunt. A specific guide/outfitter or area

Brother turns 50 next September and want to take him on a hunt. Top of my wish list would be rifle elk or Argentina dove. But I'm not sure I'm willing to foot the bill for 2 people doing that.

About the only things that I don't want are deer or Arkansas ducks - things he's done before a few times or exotics in Texas

Biggest requirement is high likelihood of success (not high fence deer success rate) and not crazy physical requirements (neither one of us are climbing mountains to hunt).

I've got a contact for a Wyoming antelope guide but that's about as far as I've made it.

I'm willing to entertain pretty much anything. Combo pheasant/duck has been an idea. Canada? Mule deer?

I’ve never paid for a hunt or had a guide but when I do it will probably start with a mule deer.

HeliBacon click: LINK

Book a Helicopter Hog Hunting trip in Texas with HeliBacon. Browse pricing, packages, and upgrades including full-auto machine guns, Night Vision Hog Hunts, and video packages.

With the number of wild hogs throughout Texas growing at an alarming rate, HeliBacon assists in population control by providing boar and wild hog hunting packages. HeliBacon offers clients a truly unique experience. Aerial depredation of feral hogs is necessary, effective, fun, memorable, and safe. We look forward to flying with you soon.

My son and I received our hunt as a Christmas present, and it was incredible. Chase put us on top of the hogs, and we had a fun time learning about shooting from the air. I liked the full auto option we had on the guns, I'd definitely do that again. Although the weather didn't cooperate with us early in the day, by about noon there were 33 fewer hogs in the great State of Texas. I'd recommend the hunt to anyone wanting an adventure, and whose not afraid to hang out the side of a helicopter 30 feet off the ground going 100 MPH chasing hogs. Hee haw!!

To me nothing beats elk hunting in the mountains. I DIY every year, but a guided hunt would be my pick out of what you listed.

If you go that route, you better start making arrangements now the good guides fill up early.

Could always do a dove hunt in Mexico. Drive down, leave your truck at a border town airport, and have an outfitter take you to the ranch

If you are interested in New Mexico elk or mule deer hunts I know a great outfitter.

I used them for my elk hunt last year, we hunted private ranches. The success rate is very high, but if you’re looking for 350”+ you probably won’t find one. Mine was a 322” 6x6.

Ive been considering a heli hog hunt for the past year but the price has seemed high for something as bland/common as hog. But you’re in a heli. Glad to hear you had a good experience

I did Helibacon hunt, but be warned, you are not guaranteed a successful trip. Over a 6 month period we booked and rebooked our hunt, driving from NOLA to Bryan Texas to do it.

First date for hunt was cancelled two days before because of bad weather. Fortunately, did not drive to Bryan.

Second date was cancelled the night before after I had driven and stayed the night in Houston. Drove back to NOLA.

Third date was cancelled while in hanger waiting for weather to clear. Two people, a father and son, had flown in and could not rebook, they left because of flight later that evening. We dove back to NOLA.

Fourth trip, we did get to fly. We saw and shot at one coyote, nothing else the entire time. At end we hovered over a pond and shot at the water so everyone could at least shoot their full auto rifle. 3 trips back and forth to Texas with over 10k spent to kill one coyote and not even see a pig.

I get the weather part, but not knowing where the pigs are was very disappointing considering what they charge, a little scouting ahead and baiting an area in advance should be in the plan.

Added.. we also did the night hog hunt with thermals.

How it works.

There is a training session at start of hunt before dark that goes over procedures, safeties, thermals, etc., that includes practice time with those steps to make sure everything is as safe and seamless as possible when all this happens in the pitch dark.
Basically when the time comes, they will hand you chambered weapon on safety with thermal on, ready to go. All you are supposed to do is, as a group, stalk up to pigs, line up, follow commands, look through thermal, identify target, take safety off, and fire. Usually 2-3 people a hunt, guide added 2 more, so there were 5.

Hunt starts. We drove around from dark until midnight, 4+ hrs, without seeing any hogs. Finally @ 12::30 am, guide sees some. We go through steps. When handed a weapon I always check to see if loaded. In this case, because of the protocol and their handling instructions, I just ask, “ Is this weapon chambered, loaded, and on safety?” Guide says yes.
We go through our practiced procedure, line up, follow commands, take safety off and, “Click”, nothing. Guide had given me an unchambered rifle with empty magazine. Wife and one other person had hard covers still on thermals and they weren’t on. So only 2 of 5 shot. Total clusterfrick.

There was more, but bottom line they refunded me $3500 for the fail.

Helicopter hunt is a consideration. May make this part of something else (bird hunts/clays shooting) if it's what's chosen. Would like trip to be at least a week and can't afford a week of that
