So the NCAA had to be reminded of this by a "source" 48 hours before kickoff? So obviously it wasn't that big of a deal to the NCAA for the past 11.5 months. So why all the sudden is it a thing now? Shows what kind of a complete shite show the NCAA is. Someone had to remind them to do their jobs. That would be like me as a nobody employee going to the HR a year after some minor incident occurred nearly a year ago with another coworker and demanding management to punish them 1/2 a days pay.

How do you know the NCAA didn't notify Houston last November when it happened? It's LSU's responsibility to know who is eligible and who isn't.

Welp if you've followed college football religiously for the past couple decades you'd know the NCAA is an utter joke. It's not out of the realm for them to be at fault for dropping the ball on this.

Mainly because it wasn’t their decision, it was the Big 12 that suspended him.

Even the NCAA had to reach out to them for clarification on the ruling.

You seem like the type that will hire an employee without a background check.

Just such a stupid take. You guys don't even look at what happened, yet you chime in like you have all the answers.

It was the Big 12 that upgraded the ejection, after the fact, as it was initially classified as unsportsmanlike, which doesn't require missed time. The Big 12 notified Houston. Houston DID NOT notify the player nor LSU of the Upgrade. What was LSU supposed to do? They could only look at a foul that doesn't carry a requirement of sitting out. Houston clearly kept this hidden, probably as a get back at LSU for getting him. Clearly, there was some frickery here.

I wish LSU would appeal, then drop the appeal after the game and have him sit out next week.

Clemson fans on TigerNet doing the whole "rules are rules" and "we can't accept cheating" thing is so funny. It is such a pussy take but I have to give it to them, hilarious.

It's like the whole fan base has taken on Dabo's holier than thou attitude.

What would be worse is for this issue to have come up after LSU wins the game on Saturday night. Then the narrative would be that LSU won with an ineligible player.

Houston was notified in December of last year by the Big 12 that the conference had elevated the foul to fighting from unsportsmanlike conduct; therefore, it carried a half-game suspension in game one this season.

Haulcy said he was never told this information. He announced he was transferring on December 8th, so that may have been after UH received the notice and they decided they had no obligation to alert him.

There certainly was a failure to disclose on Houston's part. I thought Kelly mentioned yesterday that we should hear really soon. I'm assuming that means we have reached out to SEC officials to see if the suspension for 1st half is valid and since it looks like Houston withheld vital information. Maybe Haulcy's suspension is dropped. That's my interpretation of what is going on.

Correct and to know the rules, as it applies. Fans here are just blowing this off because LSU and the player didn't know. Well, it's not so much on the player... but it is 100% on the laziness of the recruiting staff. These employees aren't making minimum wage.

This is such a lazy take. Game theory this out.

What approach would you think would have changed?

1. Not recruited Haulcy? I'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt and assume they aren't this dumb.

2. Notified the NCAA? Same effect as you have now.

LSU was not incentivized to investigate further, and had 0 constructive notice of an issue with eligibility.

Was a player that they recruited out of the portal, ejected from his last game of the season??? Yes.... therefore SOMEBODY has to investigate the situation and make a determination. If the STAFF at LSU had done this, then they could have gotten ahead of this. Now they just look like clowns.

Great response. Some LSU fans are just seeking whatever ammunition they can find to belittle this staff. The Brian Kelly disdain is strong. I firmly believe they need to put together a great season this year, but this particular incident isn't their faults.

I'm sorry, do you think LSU is affirmatively required to ask and have Houston certify, whether the penalty assessed in the game was upgraded when 1. Houston did not report the suspension to LSU in transfer paperwork; and 2. The box score reflected an ejection for unsportsmanlike conduct?

To what end, why would it have made any difference or benefitted LSU to go above and beyond?
