WR's talk

Seems like every year the recruiting board gets overly excited and jumps on the bandwagon for the big time out of state recruit to be the next big thing either to be left at the alter or the kid just not being that good. LSU's receivers historically are always from the great state of Louisiana when we are at our best. Most of those same guys are not 5 star players and always out play their rankings. Save that money... a 17-18 year old high school receiver is not worth a million dollars having never played a meaningful snap of college ball.

I’m all in on strictly sticking with in state WRs now. Frick these out of state 5 star WRs using LSU as leverage for bigger money bags. If what has happened to LSU the last two cycles with the big shot out of state #1 WR in the country is gonna become a trend then don’t even bother. It’s not even worth the headache.

You definitely recruit these kids, set the limit on what you are willing to pay and make the other schools pay more! The more they pay for one the less they have for a group

If it makes another school pay more and dilute their ability to go hard after other positions im all for it...

As long as we keep getting Edna Karr receivers we will be fine.

If the 20 million cap is real then making your competitors pay more for a player you didn't really need anyway is a plus. It only hurts if the guy you lose was a must have and no receiver will ever be a must have for lsu. Let the Tennessee and Oregons of the world overpay. We can build a roster for cheap in state. They can't.

Have we ever had a #1 OOS WR? And yet, we've had 1st round WR's forever. I never believe Keys was an LSU WR anyway, all our top recruits were recruiting other prospects even if they were committed elsewhere, Keys didn't. When he started praising Tennessee the fricken writing was on the wall, I was just waiting on the announcement, good ridden. Our in-state kids will fare better, they're the reason LSU is WRU.

If the 20 million cap is real

I have that feeling as well. That's why I added that caveat to my assessment

Don't we have the top 2 WRs from Louisiana high schools committed? WRs fall off trees like leaves in Louisiana. Go to the portal and grab a good one if you need to for next season but we have Darby and Mack to grow into good to great players.
