How are yall feeling about the defense heading into Clemson ?

Ngl their the unit im most excited to watch. The talent at all 3 levels is significant deeper and better than any other bk team on paper.Clemson will be a hell of a first test and measuring stick. We gotta see it but man I truly think Blake baker gonna have this team fired up I think we’re gonna see some straight up physicality and nastiness we haven’t seen in an LSU defense in a while.
Imo the biggest key is accounting for Cade’s legs he can flat out burn you running the fb. A healthy Perkins back and safeties that’ll crash the box should be a big help stopping the run.

Very confident about our defense.
What’s the line on total points for Clemson? I’d take the under

I'm taking a wait and see attitude.
I expect a vicious pass rush, exotic blitz packages, and stout coverage. However, I want to see how Perkins will ultimately fit in coverage, and I'm hoping D-Line success isn't due to an inept O-Line.
Everything seems in order, but time will tell.

It looks like the best since 2017 thru 2019. I think we can win 10 or 11 with these guys. Nuss will get 30+ per game. Just enough to win with a top 20 Def

Still worried about the secondary, tbh. Not worried about the rest.
Transfers seem like they could be a huge improvement, but a lot of new guys in our system will be dominating playing time. First few games could have some bad missed assignments.
We're also not very deep.

That's... not true at all.

Umm that couldn’t be further from the truth. The depth and talent is actually finally back in the secondary. At corner you have 5 guys the staff likes : mansoor Delane , Ashton stamps , DJ Pickett , pj woodland , ja’keem jackson
You also have the perfect mix of vets and young talent at safety : AJ Haulcy, Cooley, Spears, Rogers, Toviano
It’s by far the most talented secondary in the BK era it isn’t close

Depth isn't just a talent thing. We have 2 upperclassmen in the CB room. Pickett and Woodland are high upside young backups that are completely unproven at this level.
If Haulcy or Cooley go down at safety, we're looking at Spears or Toviano, who is upperclassman, but a position journeyman with no real experience at safety on big stages or in this system.
Of course we could move Gilbert back to safety, but I'd rather stick an ice pick up my pecker.
As I said, starters seem solid, but depth is important. Injuries and exhaustion happen.

Umm how is woodland unproven ? He played a shite ton as a true freshmen including being thrown into the fire out there last year agaisnt a talented usc wr room in his first ever college game holding his own. By all accounts he’s taken the next step and had a great spring and fall . Your acting like woodland didn’t see a ton of valuable snaps last year he isn’t as inexperienced as your making him out to be

The defensive line and Secondary have me excited about them for the first time in a long while. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't skeptical. Because I am due to the last several years.

In Blake Bakers second year at Missouri they went from 60 to a top 20, he took us from what 100 something to 60, I expect a top 10 defense.

I am very confident due to the fact we not only have a lot of playmakers, but we have playmakers with deep depth that we haven’t had until this year under Brian Kelly. We are going to have to depend on a lot of turnovers from our defense to give our offense the chance to score points. The youth on the offensive line is the concern.

IF my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle.

Also Kyle Williams will have that d line fired up too. He is a great motivator and iam excited to see this defense.

Good. The safeties we now have are erasers. AJ Haulcy will remind us how defenses are supposed to look.
