Hey all,
I am looking to upgrade my 77 LG CX. I want an 83 inch this time around; however, want to get the best bang for my buck.
1. Any recs?
2. When are OLED's marked off the most? Black Friday, Labor Day, etc. Thanks!

I think most of the time the best deals are in the spring. When they released the 2025 models, they marked the 2024 models to their lowest point. Black Friday isn't a bad time to look though, also around the first of the year is also pretty good.
I would use a site like camelcamelcamel to check prices even if you aren't buying from Amazon. Prices are usually the same at all major retailers.
You can also check a site like woot that sells models from last year.
This doesn't apply to what you're looking for since it's only a 77" but just as an example, woot has a Samsung OLED S90D for $1900 which is about as cheap as that TV has ever been LINK

Samsung OLED
Is this the one that the screen falls out of it after it's been on the wall for awhile?

I’ve been looking at the C5 and G4. Anyone have these or know which would be better? Dark room primarily gaming and movies

That G5 is much better then the C4. Especially good for bright rooms.
I have switched to Sony after bad experiences with many other brands.

I have the G4 and it's phenomenal. No complaints. Does fine in dark or bright rooms. Has an AI feature that automatically switches the picture mode to whatever it thinks works best for the content you're playing. I use a set-top box for my streaming, but the smart TV platform built into the TV itself is pretty damn good as-is.

Ya I’m really considering the 83 inch G4. Gotta talk the wife into it.
1. How much of an improvement are we talking from my 77 LG X?
2. How many years will it be until I’ll need to replace?
I’ll connect my my ps5 pro and gaming laptop to it. Along with a 5.1.4 surround sound system

How many years did you keep your current TV until the urge to upgrade set in?
About that many.

I got the 77" G4. Not familiar with the LG X, but I was coming from a 65" LG OLED B series from 2016 that had some screen burn-in, so it was a really nice upgrade to me. Supposedly the newer models have better burn-in prevention. No problems so far.
I also have 5.1 surround via Sonos Arc that communicates with the TV via the eArc port and it works great.

How big is your living room?
There is an optimal tv size for viewing distances.

This, and if you have a best buy near you, check their open box selection. There are some insane deals to be had.

Costco
If the price of your TV drops within 30 days of store pick up or home delivery, Costco will refund the difference.
I bought a C5 on the last Sunday of August, the next day it was $200 cheaper. I had to wait until it was delivered to call customer service. Two days later Costco had refunded the difference. Their rep told me to keep checking price because as long as it was within 30 days from my delivery date they would refund again. And, you’ve gotta love a 5 year warranty.
I’ve had it for a little over a week. It’s very nice at night and does a great job during the day in a pretty bright room.

I have the 77” C4 and have no complaints. I considered the G4 and have no regrets deciding against it.

For the C4 OLED owners. Are there issues in a brightly lit room with TV viewing?
