Trouble making NIL payments?

Check out the beginning of the Lincoln Riley USC section. Starts around 22 mins. He name drops Brian Kelly as a coach with a big buyout that’s unfireable similar to Riley because of the enormous spending on NIL and recruiting. He adds that LSU is struggling to make NIL payments as it is and couldn’t even think about coming up with a buyout for Kelly right now. Any truth to this from those who are in the know?

Dude in all respect WTF. No LSU is fine. They paid the last coach $17 mill to LEAVE. Football prints $.

Sounds like hate. BK must be out recruiting him or something. How could he possibly know about LSU’s financial situation when he can’t figure out how to field a serviceable defense and create a culture of physicality?

i doubt we’re struggling to make payments but we may be struggling to keep up with some programs
but most of the country is having trouble keeping with some spending

It sounds like he has a few players that he barely beat LSU out for and he's trying to drop thst little nugget into the back of their mind to prevent losing them to LSU after the season. Thats just my take on it. LSU has a couple of billionaires amd a few multi-millionares they're getting NIL from, and those are through a collective that had the money before LSU spent it.

I just looked it up and Kelly’s contract wouldn’t be due all up front. It’s paid in yearly installments. So truthfully firing him is more realistic than people think. Just have to fund raise for the new coaching staff. But what record would warrant firing BK this year or next? I feel like Scott and him are tight and BK has been looking extremely relaxed lately.

Cowherd may be the single most disconnected national media guy on earth. He's entirely too entitled and lazy to do just basic journalism. If LSU was having trouble making NIL payments we wouldn't be signing kid after kid in the portal.
LSU has money for anything it wants. If they want Kelly gone after this year they'll find a way.

I mean it's Cowherd what do you expect? He really knows nothing about college sports. Joel Klatt is Big Ten homer. This is kinda pointless. I don't think Cowherd was being serious right there either btw. Seemed more like he was joking and just using LSU as example that schools are not willing to just fire anymore due to NIL payments needing to be made. Right before that he made a point LSU was among the big dogs in traditional powers saying that's how college always is and only 1 big emerging star consistently in top 10 and that would be Oregon.

LSUs roster is signed, sealed and delivered. All renegotiations got done early. I read a lot dealing with recruiting across all teams across the country. The popular belief almost unanimously is that USC is the one promising money they can't cover or won't get through the clearinghouse. Everyone expects their #1 ranked class to fall apart. And very little of that factors the inevitable Riley failure on the field. Not concerned about LSUs money at all.
