This is the way.

Chabely Rodriguez takes money seriously. She strategically chose an affordable college and lucrative career path that has set her up to live comfortably at 30 years old.

Rodriguez is a certified anesthesiologist assistant, and in 2024, she switched from a salaried role to working as a traveling CAA in contract positions. As a result, she brings in over $300,000 a year. She has a master's degree in anesthesiology, which allowed her to then get her CAA credentials — without needing to attend medical school.

"I want to make more money, but I don't want to burn myself out along the way," Rodriguez says. "So now I've hit above the $300,000 mark, I feel good about that."

When her contract finished in Georgia, Rodriguez moved to New Mexico, where she lives now. She invests aggressively, aiming to put 40% of her pre-tax income into her brokerage and retirement accounts. Her total investments hit $500,000 in January 2025.

She's been able to invest consistently in part because she paid off her student loans — nearly $124,000 — quickly in 2023.

All an American doctor needs to be able to do is deal drugs legally.

Sister in law is a CRNA and makes 350k (not joking)

Much easier road to making good money than med school

Still a lot of money, but she’s going to be 1099 and owe her 15% of the employment tax where as the doctor may also “make” relatively the same amount of money but his/her net pay will be a lot higher as an employee.

Not dogging on it

It’s funny, medical schools have programs other than MD programs. I’m sure her masters was held at a medical school.

LSU HSC has an RN program, Respiratory Therapy BS program, PT, OT and many others… It’s still going to a medical school….

It says she lives in New Mexico now which has a lot of trouble attracting talent to move there. I see locum work there all the time. Her travelling could consist of staying in Albuquerque as a hub and going out for a few days at a time to the rural areas of New Mexico. Not the worst gig if you're single.

Man, smart move on her part.

Wish I had that type of sense when I was younger.

Surely she has a pass through LLC to avoid that

It’s a great way to stay single.

She seems to be an attention seeker?? Why write the same article 2 years later?

Same story, same lady from 2023

Sounds like she may be someone from Florida who is also Hispanic so, depending on if that means she is Cuban, may be alright to stay....ICE certainly needs to investigate though, can't be having folks like this who aren't Florida Cubans....

1) I don't think she wrote it

2) I think CNBC recycled it, which is not uncommon for them.

8-10 years is how much time they spend in school - my sister in law is a CRNA.

Don’t act like this one gal just got an associates degree

What, she’s not following the Dave Ramsey approach by paying off a 30 year mortgage by working 80 hours a week delivering pizzas and cutting yards?

depends on the individual and where they are in life. I traveled a TON early in my career and would often be away from home for weeks at at time minimum ...but I was young, unmarried, and pre-TSA was much easier - so it was an adventure for me at the time and I got to see/experience a lot of different places around the world.

Now at my current age and commitments - no way would I go back to that lifestyle
