Apparently, watching all the news it never touched anyone but the projects in New Orleans. It killed over 240 people in Mississippi, including women and children. It flatted houses from Bay St Louis to Pascagoula and as far north as Laurel in significant numbers.

It did not fricking hit New Orleans, they got like Cat 3 impacts and the shitty levees failed. All those deaths were caused by people’s stupidity.

And we had zero local looting in my hometown, I remember seeing stores with a wall blown out etc and shite just sitting there for weeks. We all pulled together, buried our dead and went to work

It technically had 3 landfalls. Caught the mouth of the river, eastern St Bernard, and finally the mouth of the Pearl River.

I had family in Biloxi, I think they climbed into their attic and punched a hole through the roof to get out. I couldn't imagine.

Actually its true second Landfall was near Buras than its 3rd and final was just east of the Miss Louisiana boarder. But yes New Orleans was not in the eye and should have made it out with much less damage almost no deaths if not foe the Levees breaking.

Katrina should be the story of the MS Gulf Coast

Instead it became the story of black people trapped in NO, w/the TV News pleasing visual of helpless blacks abandoned by the racist powers that be

And of course, the levees being blown up (per Spike Lee)

True. The coverage was very slanted. A FEMA guy told one of our engineers that Anderson Cooper was telling people FEMA was nowhere to be seen when they were about 100 yards away from him but the camera never pointed over to them.

We had friends down in Escatawpa and after not hearing about aid in Mississippi, just sent money directly to them.

New Orleans diverted money meant for levee maintenance to pet projects instead.

We set up an office in New Orleans to work with the Corps. It was staffed with people from Kentucky, Tennessee and Indiana because we couldn’t find enough people there that could pass a drug test. Later on we got some folks out in the rest of the state.

Aaron Broussard was as bad as C-Ray.

Probably worse since Broussard had no excuse.

Yes, they were. Abandoned by their racst arse "Chocolate" mayor of their fine, in his words, "Chocolate City".

They did not ban together to help those in need. Those animals turned on each other. Robbing, looting, raping, and even murdering victims.

Stupid bastards even attacked first responders.

This has always been my understanding. Final landfall right at or around the mouth of the Pearl. Actually New Orleans being on the “good” side of the storm is what hurt. Strong winds out of the north pushed all that lake water into the canals.

The eye passed over Louisiana and Mississippi equally, dumbass.
