Doesn’t delane move inside for nickel?

Delane is our #1 corner. He will stay on the outside guarding the team’s best WR.

If Delane moves inside… do either Cooley or Haulcy exit the field ?
Who replaces Delane at cb if we remove our best cb for his position ?
Who is the starting cb opposite Delane and who spells him as the cb opposite Delane ?

I believe Delane, Stamps, and Woodland are all comfortable playing slot CB. Perkins playing STAR alleviates them from having to make plays in the box.

There are a ton of options in this secondary.
You can play Cooley and Haulcy with Perk at Star.
You can play that same safety look and bring in woodland at nickel
Roll down Cooley to Nickel and play Spears and Haulcy deep
Cooley and Haulcy at safety and bring in stamps and Pickett/Jackson on dime looks.
Lots of options.

Perkins is Star
Delane is #1 corner but probably bumps inside in nickel and DJ comes in to play the outside.
DJ too tall and lanky for nickel.
Woodland might be nickel but reports are he gets handsy and is going to get flagged.

Delane was the only CB Kelly named as a definite starter. He wouldn’t move inside to nickel

Versatility is one of his best traits. If Stamps can hold.down the other side I wouldn't mind seeing MD move inside in nickle situations once DJP is ready.

Pretty sure Gilbert is gonna get some serious PT in passing situations...

Not necessarily. It’s a hybrid Box Safety role. If we play a Nickle in a sure passing situation, they might bring in a true CB like Woodland for that.
This will likely depend on how Perkins takes to the role. If he is killing it getting after the QB, then the smart move would be to keep him on the field and take a LB off and play Dime.

I would like to see some nickel with Stamps and Pickett on the outside with Delane at nickel.

Man I hope not

Speaking of.. AYS Blake has been hinting at some 3rd down packages with Perk and Payton on each edge and Pyburn & Reliford moving inside. Baker must be licking his chops.

If you have listened to any practice reports, MD has been moving to nickel and then some combination of Stamps/Woodland/Pickett have been on the outside. Perk is playing a hybrid Safety/linebacker. That’s how they have been running it pretty consistently at practice at least during media availability.

Gilbert is the second team star. So when perk has to come out he will be rushing the passer like burns did last year or cover long backs out of the backfield/ TEs.

Don't think so. He will be in the box more than traditional nickel. I hope we blitz him more than traditional nickel. And use as a spy on running qbs.
