Need a new PC....kinda specific.

So the owner of my company told me to go pick out a new PC (desktop). It will be used for the Adobe suite very heavily....all of it. The catch is, it has to be direct from Lenovo. I usually build all mine and am not familiar with Lenovo pre-builts. He is known to be a tight arse, so definitely under 2k. This will be just for the tower by the way. Thanks for any feedback.

Why is your current PC insufficient?

ThinkStation P3 Ultra Gen 2 closest to that budget. Takes $100 off the price when you add to cart.

the fact that this has a 300W power supply, should tell you what it cant handle

its not worth it, you will be sacrificing something to get to that point..
and depending on which Adobe he wants to run, the monitor will be another 2k

Lenovo? What's the problem. Very good brand.

Which Adobe Suite components will you be using? Since you don't mention demanding Autodesk apps like AutoCad and Maya, I'm guessing that your hardware needs are less demanding... Illustrator and Photoshop. If that's the case an adequately-equipped Lenovo might be ThinkStation P2 Tower Gen 2 with the best graphics board they currently offer and 750 watt power supply. You can get something for ~$2k. It will handle video work as well unless lots of rendering is needed... that will be slow.

It will mostly be Illustrator and Photoshop, yes. Some After Effects and Premier, but very rarely. Also some Substance, mostly just for mock ups and text modelling.
I will see if I can convince him to let me build one, but I guess he gets a decent discount from Lenovo. I'll have to ask when he's back from vacation. I know it doesn't take a $2k+ computer to run those things. I've done it before. I just don't know shite about Lenovo builds. Is it just their pricing that makes them that much?
ETA: I realized the way i worded my OP was probably misleading. When I say used "heavily" I meant that is pretty much all it will be for. Not "heavily" as in long arse renderings of video or 3D. My bad on that.

They cost more because they are better built.

That wasn't hard.

The P3 has ISV certs from Adobe, unlike your gamer toy. Better Ultra 9 cpu VS ultra 7. A better GPU tuned for color and AI features he'll use in photoshop. And better RAM. Good try tho.

Why the attraction for Intel when AMD is better for non gaming workloads? Honest question.
I have 64GB now, and have 128GB of RAM sitting on my desk for when I actually buy an AM5 mobo. No, JoshJRN, I do not need it, but it was cheap.

Truthfully I have no issue with AMD at all. I've had some odd issues with software I personally use on AMD, but I think it's a great solution for lots of people. So no hate here.

The Lenovo Thinkstaions are great desktops but a $2k budget is so 2005. $3500 would get you a great thinkstaion that could handle all the adobe graphic software.

I like that you doubled down on glossing over the 300W power supply...
WTF is it about the tech board that brings out the hobbiest

Good luck convincing your boss. His reluctance may reflect what he thinks about equipment uniformity, maintenance contracts and the scope of your job. Custom building and operating a critical piece of IT makes you both creative and support. When you move on/up how does he replace you?

I think you are glossing over the fact that he's using this for photoshop and illustrator, not your latest shoot em up game. The 330w power supply is sized appropriately for the better components for his use case that have a max draw of 250w. He's not maxing out high power gpu's with layers and filters.
CPU: Ultra 9 more cores than Ultra 7, better for PS
GPU: Ada cards have certified drivers from Adobe, more VRAM, and hit 50% better on content creation benchmarks compared to the RTX-50 series.
RAM: Thinkstaion RAM has ECC support to prevent file corruption, legion tower does not.
But please continue with your gamernazi BS.
