Is Coach O a security blanket for CBK?

I love CBK and hope he stays a long time, but it's clear not everyone shares that opinion. With a lot of CBK haters out there, does forking out 17M to Coach O give CBK extra time as LSU's coach?

I know some will say LSU has plenty of money, which may be true, but do those that hold the power want to pay off another football coach that stands to walk away with between 50-60M if fired this season? That adds up to right around 70-75M in payouts and then you have to go out and fork out another 100M to land the next coach.

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm a huge CBK fan, and with those astronomical numbers being thrown around, I think the power brokers would have to ride with the horse they bought and take some lumps until it reaches a "reasonable" buyout amount. I can see LSU writing a check in the 30M range, but still that's almost $50M!

Last thing LSU wants to become is another Auburn and have several former coaches on the payroll 8-10 years down the road.

Of course, CBK can go win a natty this season and we won't have to worry about any of that stuff!

10 years $100 million was stupid regardless who the coach is. That’s a wild contract especially with the insane buy out.

Idk, it’s win or bust this year. That seat will be insanely hot if he’s not in the playoff or more

No worries. Woodward can go out and get Jimbo on the cheap. A&M paid him well and he'll take less to coach again at a place like LSU, or big donors will say what the heck and go all in for a Saban return.

LSU will be fine with $18M to pay players, there will be some very good coaches wanting to come to LSU.

It’s really not. Brian Kelly is the 8th highest paid coach. It’s not like he’s the far and away highest paid coach.

If you want a top level coach, you have to pay the toll.

Articulate what he's done that warrants love at this point? He hasn't won anything.

He hasn’t left the program broken down and smoldering in the ditch like your god, either.

Actually it won’t be… no one will pay 40 mill to send him home with revenue sharing and a 20 million dollar roster. Like him or not, he’s ours for another 4 years unless he leaves on his own.

If you add up O’s last two years of salary, buyout, the buyout for his disaster 2020 staff, the buyouts for the 2021 staff who were ditched, and the lost revenue from sucking for two years (lost attendance, concessions, parking, merchandise sales, etc)…that’s a lot of fricking money your lord and savior O got paid to put us in that ditch and have his sorry arse shown the door.

Please go look at the contracts of coaches that signed at the same time or just after. He has donated 1MM twice to LSU so really LSU has not paid 10MM/year. If you took what he makes, which is 4th among SEC HCs with only Kirby winning a NC, and deduct the 1MM, he is 8th in the conference. The term of the contract wasn’t unusual either considering the shite SHOW he inherited. With the uncertainty of NIL at the time, unlimited transfers and the conference changing its rules on inner conf transfers, who knew what would happen.

16. Clark Lea, Vanderbilt Commodores – $3.05 million
15. Jeff Lebby, Mississippi State Bulldogs – $4.51 million
14. Sam Pittman, Arkansas Razorbacks – $5.25 million
13. Shane Beamer, South Carolina Gamecocks – $6.125 million
12. Hugh Freeze, Auburn Tigers – $6.5 million
11. Mike Elko, Texas A&M Aggies – $7 million
10. Brent Venables, Oklahoma Sooners – $7.25
9. Billy Napier, Florida Gators – $7.5 million
8. Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss Rebels – $8.85 million
T-5. Mark Stoops, Kentucky Wildcats – $9 million
T-5. Josh Huepel, Tennessee Volunteers – $9 million
T-5. Eliah Drinkwitz, Missouri Tigers– $9 million
4. Brian Kelly, LSU Tigers – $9.5 million
3. Steve Sarkisian, Texas Longhorns – $10.3 million
2. Kalen Deboer, Alabama Crimson Tide – $10.875 million
1. Kirby Smart, Georgia Bulldogs – $13 million

Go suck off Napier or O dumbass. You’re a fricking tool and probably that dumbass cop from sulfur with the UF tattoo I’ve seen getting off off of people at a tailgate a time or 2.

Nobody will ever respect anything your dumbass posts on here Pirate Queef.
You’re not an LSU fan. And that 100 is 8th salary in the SEC if you look at how he is donating back to the school. 4th just straight up.
Shrimp boat captain burned the program down and cost a hell of a lot more than 17MM.
