Does anyone know of any groups or organizations that meet periodically to keep alive the speaking (or culture) of Creole French?

If anyone is aware of any conferences, workshops, or symposia in this regard, that would be helpful, too.

Thank you all in advance.

The library in my hometown has a “French Coffee Talk” once a week I think. About 30-50 older people go and speak Cajun French. They have certain topics, bring in a guest speaker, etc. over coffee and donuts. Pretty cool.

Sporadically throughout Lafayette during the working hours. I catch these random old heads at Meches when I pop in and they're just in there talking shite in French

Hadn't heard that since my Pepaw used to hold illegal card games in his outdoor kitchen in Crowley years ago. Them baws could put em down and still not walk in cursive after. Built different

If you find Jourdan Thibodeaux (he’s on all the socials) then you can find all the resources. Hjs whole platform is about preserving the language and culture and I know there are some classes and things at ULL for sure. I’m not sure about the other universities, but they might be able to tell you which ones are in your area. Good luck!!

In south Louisiana, Creole means French speaking people of African descent.

They speak a language known as Kouri-Vini.
