After The Guilded Age I decided to rewatch Downton Abbey. I forgot how good it was. And what a douche Thomas and Ms O'Brian are. I think out of all of them Edith is my favorite character.

Funny story - my wife and I actually got into it right before the movie came out a few years ago. I somewhat enjoyed it and I agreed to go watch the movie with her. She had to go to the bathroom before we walked into the theatre so I told her I would meet her at our seats. I walked into a theatre to a room full of 70 year old grandma's. The ones next to me actually asked if I was in the wrong theatre LOL. They brought their knitting kits and knitted the entire movie while watching it. I was like 25 at the time lol.

The show is very well done. Was surprised how much I enjoyed it a couple years ago when I watched it.

Wasn't really a show I would have made a point to watch. But, once we got into it and got familiar with the characters and the relationships, it got to be really good.

Sucked that I stumbled on spoilers for a few of the deaths.

For those interested, the 3rd and "final" movie comes out soon.

Check out Gosford Park if you haven't seen it already. Great Agatha Christie style mystery set in a great country house, written by Julian Fellows (and Russell Dalrymple), directed by Robert Altman. Consider it a Dark Downton Abbey.

We just did a re-watch. Such a well done show, great characters, good and evil.
Mary was mostly evil, and the dowager was hilarious. Rip Maggie Smith

Carson
Mrs. Hughes
Bates
Anna
Mrs. Patmore

Those were the best characters.

I actually got to go to the castle for a benefit dinner right after season 4 - most the cast were there. Fantastic evening. They were all very approachable (except Elizabeth McGovern) - spent a lot of time talking with Hugh Bonneville and Julian Fellowes as well as Mr Bates and Anna. Best benefit dinner I've ever attended - literally like 50 people and the cast.
