When I was younger I always hoped a Cougar would come by the hunting camp.

Can’t be too picky about age at my age. I just wish the majority of them would spend less time at the feeder. I like lean.

Was surveying a ranch in rural Northern Nevada. High desert. No paved roads, electricity, or cell service for several miles.
On this ridge looking for sage grouse lek signs. Found some fresh lion tracks in the snow. NOT A GOOD FEELING being 2 miles from the truck with a big cat potentially hunting you!

Wife and I saw one shamble across the road up in Shelby County a few decades ago. Looked like it was half-starved. This was decades ago and no one believed me when I told people about it.

I hunt just a few miles from east Texas 20 miles north of Shreveport. Damn near every member of our club claims to have seen a cougar. I don’t believe any of them.

No, just a black panther.

Reminds me few years ago Saturday night hunting in Bossier City in a dark 'cesspool of sin'. Slipped a cougar back to the motel and when I turned on the light, it was a black panther! Next day hit a massage parlor and sign said self service.
Not giving up, called a prostitute and she says, "No Homer. Not on the first date."
Sigh.....

So on another related topic, have you seen turkey around Jasper? I recall from past TPWD publications there is a season in Jasper and Newton counties. I'm am farther west in ETX and haven't seen anything unusual. But it would be nice to know if there are turkey. Apparently it has been a pain in the arse for TPWD to try and establish them here. The closest I've seen one was flying over I49 near Natchitoches. It ran out in front of us and took to the air and flew across all four lanes.

No. Never on the lease, and never during the 27 years I’ve been working in the woods in East Texas.

Yes I have a few on camera when I have corn out. Clusters of 3. But I have had the place for 3 years and only seen them on camera twice.
