MIDLAND — The Midland Independent School District’s board of trustees voted Tuesday night to rename a school after Robert E. Lee, reversing a former board’s efforts to distance itself from the Confederate general five years ago.

In a divided 4-3 vote, the trustees voted to return one of its schools, formerly Legacy High, back to Midland Lee High.

I don't really give a shite one way or the other but I think it's funny that most of the folks downvoting you for this would say something similar about renaming monuments/mountains/etc back to indian names.

I have never seen so many assholes who would have been too chickenshit to fight gloat about "their" win.

If someone like George Floyd can be honored with statues and what not I'm thinking we'll survive them changing this school's name back to what it was

I don't agree with changing the names, but you can't flip back and forth. It was 4-3 - what's the next board going to do?

Perhaps Mt McKinley / Mt Denali but that's a trivial one
