Where are you staying? That will probably help folks narrow things down. In my only trip there we did a bachelor party and got a house in Kings Beach on the north side along the border. Was there about the same time of year and while a lot was closed, we still had a great time.

Stayed in south lake tahoe in August 3 years ago and its still probably my favorite vacation of all time. I just think that area is so beautiful and the weather is immaculate. All the hiking is great. Get up early and hit chimney/secret beach, theres only a few parking spots but its worth it

Following. Going to LT in mid-late October. Staying in Tahoe City for 3 days then going to South Lake Tahoe for 4 days. Going on a few hikes and a fishing trip, but any suggestions would be appreciated.
TIA

We like the north side better than the south but drive around the entire lake because its beautiful.
We rented some UTVs out by Carson City and did some trail riding, would recommend. We came across a herd of wild horses while riding out there.
We split our trip up and only stayed at Tahoe for 4 days then drove south through Yosemite NP for a day, Sequoia NP for a day and then flew out of Fresno.

I had been going to LT since I was a kid but work sent me to South LT a couple of times. We were put up in Harvey's and, to be honest, it was perfectly fine unless you absolutely need an air bnb. I had all of my hiking gear with me and it wouldn't have mattered if I had a house or not. Just an economical option I wanted to pass on

Virginia city just outside Carson city, NV is not far. Interesting old mining town.
