Little bit of context regarding games you've enjoyed in the past would be helpful.

I will always shill expedition 33. It has been universally praised and for good reason.

It's 2025...no need to pre-order games anymore.
As Josh suggested, can you provide some games you've liked in the past?

havent gone to a gamestop in like 15 years. you can just buy everything directly from your playstation/xbox/PC. What do you play on? can just check out some games on the store and look up reviews and videos on youtube.

So much of it is genre specific. I'm assuming PS5?
The "best" game for this current generation is almost certainly Elden Ring but if you aren't into that genre of gampelay you may not like it, but if you want a big adventure/RPG type game with a lot of freedom and exploration with challenging boss fights, it's certainly one to consider.
If you like 3D platformers in the vein of Mario, then Astrobot on PS5 is excellent. Very fun, well made, and a more casual, relaxing old school gaming experience.

Almost anything thats not 3rd person open world stuff. Love CoD and Battlefield. Madden/CFB get stale quick. I’m basically trying not to buy Madden my back up.

Seems like straight FPS is something your looking for.
If you are ok with straying away from the miliary modern style of COD and BF then might i suggest DOOM 2016 followed by DOOM eternal 2020. Both could be gotten at this point for real cheap and are fantastic FPS games.
Robocop Rogue city is another straight FPS thats a ton of fun and set in a more modern typical style.
outside of COD im not sure what good military shooters are around right now.

Well the Battlefield 6 will be out in Oct. If you are looking for something more tactical you may want to give Ready or Not a try....
