....or Van Halen again? Or solo artists like Rod Stewart? Hell, the last really big "white acts" were boy bands like NSYNC and The Backstreet Boys (laugh away, I actually thought the Backstreet Boys were good).

But except for Justin Bieber, and he was just for the very young girs, there hasn't been anything like the Eagles or Van Halen in several years. Music today is basically DOA. Honestly, I think part of it is not wanting to give a white male that kind of platform anymore.

I mean, people didn't suddenly forget how to sing.

Yeah.. they probably did.

I think the youunguns like Kpop these days.

Music is a screenshot of the time in which it is created... we aren't getting the 70s back.

The audience doesn't want singing. The audience wants rapping, or at least speaking

100 years ago people wanted to hear Caruso. As culture becomes more democratized the audience wants to hear people doing things they could do themselves

And it has nothing to do with politics

I’m really hoping the hip hop popularity has peaked and in the decline

Music died in the 90’s.

That's the way it seems to me, too. There has to be one or more reasons for this, because there's money to be made in good music.

Amen, unfortunately the groups that were mentioned are getting old but they are still great. There doesn’t seem to be anyone coming in to take up the slack.

Maybe Yacht Rock groups and singers like Boz Skaggs, Eddie Money, Steely Dan, Hall & Oates will come back strong.

One Direction?

Ed Sheeran is popular solo white guy who plays guitar.

No offense but you’re just old and out of touch. I’m nipping at your heels so don’t take this the wrong way.

Okay, here's one of the best songs ever. There's nothing around today that's half as good as this.

1992. Gangsta rap blew up, grunge hit the scene, and we have had very few great bands since. GNR came out with Use your Illusion 1 and 2 that year, and it kind of felt like the last of an era.
