Wife is going back to work this weekend after roughly 16 weeks of maternity leave.. Wife is an ICU RN so she will be gone each day around 14 hours, which entails me being the sole responsible party of our 3 month old all weekend.
I've had multiple people ask if I was "nervous" or "wasn't looking forward to it" since my wife and I usually are together with the baby once I get home from work.
First time dad, so i'm still over the moon about our baby and probably always will be. I'm super pumped to spend the next 3 days with our baby with no work, no plans, nothing, just hanging out and doing whatever comes up. It's a blessing to be a dad to a healthy and happy baby.
With all that being said, I have ABSOLUTELY no clue how someone could not be excited to spend the time with their kids, as many of my coworkers have expressed.
Shitty dads? I'm not sure, i'm not going to judge, but it couldn't be me.
ALSO, do ya'll think she's too young to run the weedeater? Lol yard needs to be cut. Just kidding.
Anyways, have a good rest of the week OT

Get a nanny.
Best money you can spend

A nanny is like 50 grand a year or more. That’s eats through most salaries unless the lady is a an exec, high level lawyer, or doctor.

Your friend must either be really rich or a very high earner

I would rather invest the time in to my kids and invest the money for them.

My wife worked night ICU when our second was born so I had most night duties for the kids. It was awesome. Everyone saying you should hire someone to do your parental duties is crazy. They will only be small for such a short period of time, enjoy every second of it you can.

0-6 months: Awe this is the most innocent and precious child. He/She naps every 1.5 hours and sleeps 4 hours twice each night. Life is bliss.
6-12 months: Awe this little baby has so much personality. Maybe they're starting to walk. Sleeping through the night and even saying Dada Mama.
12-24 months: This baby might be the GOAT at everything. Grandma says so, did you see them walk? They even threw a ball! They're so sweet and helpful too. How could anyone not enjoy this?
24-36 months: Oh this is my wild child, they sure are spicy. So much personality. It's ok if they say NO, they're just testing boundaries. They're going to be future leaders!
36-60 months: PLEASE GOD SOMEONE HELP ME WITH THIS SPAWN OF SATAN. WHY DOES IT ALWAYS SCREAM? WHY IS IT SO DIRTY?
Then you're pretty good for a few years until the first wave of 'independence' attitude sets in.
Good luck buddy!!

Agreed.
Nanny/Babysitter came up in discussion and I'm not opposed if absolutely needed, but I'd rather spend the time with them.

he and his wife make a pretty good living , she's a higher up with Amazon, he flies for the Navy and American Airlines, they love their kids and aren't "pawning them off" for somebody else to raise, part of the issue is they live in Maryland and the nanny coalition has some pretty stringent work rules, almost likeTeamsters stringent

Wife worked nights all during our dating/engagement/pregnancy and just made the switch to days. Nights wasn't near as bad as people assume.
