Rewatched some of 2003 games…vs Ole Miss and Oklahoma. Pretty ugly

I was a lil too young to judge his QB play at the time

He was secretly pretty bad against good teams but he steered the ship to the first title in forever.

whole team was shite against UF. were not ready and jimbo game plan sucked. was not his best in the natty but OU had a great defense.

He was effective as a QB Game Manager (as were many of Saban's QB), he was a QB that was a winning QB with not many big statistical games

UGA twice

He was 28-51 with an average of 165 yds with a 1 TD and 1 INT in those 2.

auburn

He was good against Auburn

bama

Bama sucked dick back then

arky

He was good against Arky

ole miss and eli manning

He threw 3 picks.

But 2 picks and no TDs did happen both times.
He steered the ship to the final destination but he wasn't above critique.

we shall see this year

i was not gonna go as far back as hodson, jones, etc.

i had forgot to add JD5 also to the list. albeit he would not have enough big time wins like the others for obvious reasons. never won a big bowl game or SECCG or natty. all others on list did.

Im friends with one of the starting OL from that team and he said we knew we had 300 rushing yards per game. Mauks job was not to frick it up and he didnt.

Go watch how we were playing with him in 2002 and see how we played without him.

If he comes back in 2004, we almost certainly make it back to Atlanta (ie we don’t lose Miracle on Markham I).

GTFO

Go watch his play in 2002 against the mighty Florida Gators where he lit them up and then inexplicably got injured in garbage time.

^THIS^

We would have easily won the SECW in 2002 if Mauck had stayed healthy.

That still pisses me off to this day, and for those who bash Miles (and everyone else we've had) and swore Saban was perfect:

We were up 36-7 in the 4th quarter, we had some backups in the game, and we were just flat embarrassing Florida on their home field. Time to safely coast to victory, right?
Nope- we not just left our starting QB in, we fricking ran him on a draw right into the line. Injured, out for the rest of the year.

Saban said he didn't call that play; well, how about calling "no QB runs"? Or how about we put in the backup and get ready for the next game?
We were 5-1 after that game, ranked #12.
We finished the year 8-5 and unranked.
