This is good news. If he can fill the CB1 spot, it’s a premier, building block position checked off.

Saw video yesterday of him running stride for stride with Shaheed while looking jacked.

Maybe it’s just our receivers sucking and McKinstry just sucks a little bit less than them?

Guys…guys…guys… Save that hateful talk for people who deserve it like Geauxldilocks and TigerSaurus.

McKinstry was a rookie last year and it showed. But he’s got ability. I think he and Taylor will be great in this new system and are good players to build upon.

Good. He needs to step up to justify his draft position.

I'm a little confused here. It would be great for McKinstry to eventually become the #1 but why are you saying this like Alontae Taylor isn't the solidified #1 and isn't just as good or better while continuing to improve? We haven't even seen him fill the #2 spot, meanwhile Alontae is in position to fill #1.

I'd much rather McKinstry fill the #2 spot in the hope that Alontae is a solid #1. I definitely don't hope McKinstry is #1 because that would mean the guy we expect to be #1 isn't doing well.

Let's hope our #1 and #2 get checked off for the foreseeable future.

Alontae Taylor isn’t a boundary corner

Taylor isn’t a lockdown outside CB. He’s a great rover. And he can fill-in on the outside for a game or two. But he’s not a true #1 CB.

I gotcha. I knew that but also assumed with the departure of both Lattimore/ Adebo that we expected him to try and fill that role. If McKinstry is a better fit and we can play Taylor in his natural spot then that would be great. Is there not a chance that Taylor can become a lockdown outside CB?

I mean he was always playing that Rover role as #3 and solid #2 if needed so have we seen enough to know its not possible?

He’s not exactly locked up against Jerry Rice and Joe Montana.

Either CB1 or 2, we need both. Taylor is the Nickel, so we still need one more guy on the outside to either step up or bring someone in. Right now we are relying on a round 4 rookie, a second year undrafted, or a journeyman as a starter.

Edit:
This list is from an article, but perfectly illustrates this might be the one position worse off than receiver on our team:

Alontae Taylor
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Isaac Yiadom
Rico Payton
Quincy Riley (rookie)
Roster cuts: Rejzohn Wright, Jayden Price, Dalys Beanum (rookie)

Coach already said he is basically the rover/joker/whatever you want to call the slot guy that moves all over the field.

So we need 2 on the outside, and I sure hope the hype on Kool-Aid is real because I want to drink it.
