Apparently he died a while back. I used to listen to him tell stories while playing pool at a buddy's house (gorgeous Chevelle).
Anyway...I like the fella and he's a hell of a storyteller. Reminds me a bit of Jerry Clower (older than most but a good'n) Coon Huntin stories.
Ya'll have any good car stories to tell?
I can remember Hot Rod Magazine cartoons from my youth.

Yeah, he passed a while back. He was a great storyteller. One of those types that it is just easy to listen to.

(gorgeous Camaro).
I had one that was almost identical. Never got it quite that nice, it was a solid car though. I sold it around 85 to a collector.
Mine was a 4 speed car.

There was a cadence to his voice. The sort of intoxicating monotone that shifted in just the right parts, just enough to draw you in. I never thought I'd listen to as many stories of his as I have because he had this...hang on quality, and damn if it wasn't worth it.
I was really disheartened to hear he just died out the blue like that.

Yeah I saw a note about his death in the last episode of the tex/mex car show on Netflix.

He was great… “oh my god I’ve got a race car! “

I got a fairly good one.
In the early to mid 90’s, There was a salesman at a Ford dealership (now defunct) that was pretty good. He liked to work hard hustling cars and having a lil fun after hours. One Saturday he had access a Ford truck as a program vehicle.
They had tickets to a monster truck show for his family and met some more of his friend’s families there. Turns out there was a “tough truck” exhibition during the show and it apparently was for anyone who had the ability to sign up.
Well through some dares, some drinking, and some big talk, one thing led to another and he got signed up.
So in the competition.. a few rust buckets with barely any exhaust, rust, etc. and then there was a brand new Ford F150 XLT 4x4. He manages to take the lead and keep it and, son of a bitch, he WON. He said the anti lock brakes allowed him to out brake everyone into the turns and the rust buckets couldn’t keep up.
Truck was washed on Sunday, returned to the dealership. Not a scratch to be seen. Eventually was sold as a program vehicle without the dealership heads knowing any the wiser.
He said that truck never came in for any kind of warranty work either.
Moral of the story… check the underside of that steal of a deal new program truck before you buy it.
