It's the first practice.
Is it a cause for concern?

The media aren't football coaches though.

1st team was Cooley/Gilbert

2nd team Toviano/Haulcy

Spears filling in other periods. I like that 5

It’s not good. The media has been spot on about the terrible secondary play the last few fall camps.

Sconeman and Hunt both called it out last year

Safety and OL are the obvious, on paper, weaknesses heading into the season.

They are just predicting. I doubt anything happened today that's meaningful.

Until I see strong safety play again, I assume we will have more breakdowns and embarrassment to endure

I, for one, am feeling good about the talent we have back there. I think they will be somewhere between “fine” and a “strength”. Not worried.

This.

With no pads and no real contact, LSU's passing game should perform well against not only their own secondary, but anyone's secondary. That doesn't mean the DB group will be great. It's just I wouldn't sound the alarms just yet. They aren't going to see many passing attacks as good as LSU's this year.

Haulcy was obviously second team due to late transfer. Hes our best by a mile

I agree, but some folks forget Defense is a team effort. You could have 4 Honey Badgers back there and if the front line/linebackers don't get any pressure, then someone is eventually going to get open.

Hopefully Baker has the total D improved this year.

At least no Sage Ryan, it can't be worse

Our safety play has been dog shite for 6 years since Jacoby Stevens, Grant Delpit, and unsung hero Mo Hampton (could have been an all time great) back in 2019.

If you are actually taking away anything meaningful from today's reports, I'm praying for you...

I actually think that any safety unit in the country should look bad against the WRs and QB we have...

We have the talent, the coaching is suspect. I heard Moscona mention Olson's contract runs out after this season. If safety is a weakness again, he needs to go.

Overall, BK is our HC. Gaps will be left deep on the defense

They probably have Lance Guidry ready to fill in next year if necessary

We were struggling on D til big Dave said he had something planned and that was Mo Hampton finally getting up to speed and dominating the Free Safety role.

Last 5 games of the year he was outstanding.
