The domestic abuse statute (RS 14:35.3) limits it to "household member or family member"

So there is a separate statute for "dating partner" (14:34.9)

I think they're basically identical.

They basically are. DAB is the older statute (and what most of us use as a verbal shorthand). The dating partner statute was added later to close perceived loopholes without having to make sure they change every referential statute.

Let's be honest. LSP doesn't have the best track record on adequately punishing troopers.
