Olde Oaks in Bossier…

Played there yesterday with two buddies for the first time since last summer… The greens are an absolute joke!
The fairways and rough were mowed down nicely… but the greens were abysmal.
Never have seen them this bad and have been playing there for 15+ years.
There was very minimal grass on any of the greens and most of them were literally dirt… Wish I would’ve taken a couple of pictures.
Will not be playing out there again until I hear that it has improved drastically… Believe we are going to give Crooked Hollow a try the next time we play.

Yea it's a shame. In it's prime when it was 27 holes, it was arguably the nicest course around, even better than Trace, Eastridge, and Stonebridge.
Just has incredibly awful owners that are cheap and don't know how to run a golf course, much less two of them. Same reason Stonebridge is in the worst shape it's ever been in as well.

Absolute shame. I am glad that when I was balls deep into golf as a teenager and early 20s, I got to play there multiple times a week when it was prime.
Once they sold the Olde Oaks / Stonebridge package deal to the Asian baws, it went downhill swiftly.
Stonebridge is in a big bag of frick too regarding course ownership, some residents wanting the neighborhood to pool together and buy it, etc.
I am not sure what shape its in, but I hope its a fraction better than what Olde Oaks has turned into.

Not sure if this is stone bridge in Nola or elsewhere. Played the Nola version last weekend and it was in good shape and enjoyed playing there.

Played it a couple of months ago and it was a joke. Crooked Hollow is not that much better. Go play Huntington or Querbes as they are in great shape.
My friends cousin is the GM at Stonebridge and Olde Oaks. He tells me ownership is clueless and does not want to spend a dime on the courses.

I don’t know when the last time you played Stonebridge was. I played it on Saturday. It’s in the best shape I’ve seen it in 3-4 yrs. The only bad greens are 5 and 8, which always struggle because of the trees that surround them. Stonebridge is funny in that it the course always struggles coming out of winter but by the time we get to this point in the year it’s in pretty dad gum good shape. But I haven’t seen it this nice in a few years.
All that said, the owners absolutely suck arse. I heard from a very reliable source the Ji was served by the Feds last week. What he was served with or for I have not heard yet.

Anybody that says this hasn’t played Stonebridge in a while. Both Huntington and Querbes have come a long way from where they were, but aren’t close in terms of shape of the course compared to Stonebridge.

Big price difference between Stonebridge and the two Munis might affect where some folks play.

He owns Stonebridge north of BAFB and Olde Oaks and all of the vacant lots South of BAFB. He's a Chinese National and is probably spying on the activities of the Base, the comings and goings of the B-52's and what not. I don't know if that's true but it sounds about right.
Anyway, did they fix the cart paths? Last time I played out there they were repairing the concrete cart paths, it looked like a blind person with no arms or legs poured them, no forms, just poured the concrete and spread it around. They put in a big water fall at the end of 18 and it looked like they were trying to build a retaining wall around the lake close to the club house. Once again, they were using landscape timbers as pilings with no deadmen holding them back, they were leaning all different directions, then they were driving sheet metal behind them, the owner is so cheap! I don't know how Olde Oaks stays open. I wish he would sell the golf course. He could keep the residential lots. If the golf course were in better shape, he could sell more of the lots but it's not going to happen.

I know what he owns. I’ve been a “member” there for the past 6 years. And I was the salesman for Hargrove that put the new roof on the clubhouse at Stonebridge. So I know Ji and his wife Sue personally. Don’t like either of them.
As far as the cart paths go, fix is a loose term. He didn’t spend any of his money to fix anything. An angel donor gifted Stonebridge $250k for things like the roof, the fountains, cart paths, etc. I believe Ji used a roofing crew to do the work to the cart paths. Once the city found out, and once they figured out that he didn’t file any permits to do the work, they put a stop to it. Also gave him a certain amount of time to tear up and re-do the work. I think the serving has more to do with that than anything.

It was so bad last time I was there I had to take a picture. This wasn’t even the worst spot. Just looked like they poured bags of quikcrete with no forms and then just let people drive through it. This wasn’t even the worst spot.
Hell the last time I was at olde oaks was a few years ago and there was a big sign on the front door that said they didn’t pull a permit on the roof so construction was stopped. I’m a GC and roofing contractor so couldn’t help but laugh. Not surprising they didn’t pull a permit with the concrete. Cheap bastards.
I was a member for years but thank god I switched over to a better place. Ji is bad, but the wife is even worse. Really really wanted to pimp slap her out there one day, long story so won’t go into that. But just told her straight to her face I was canceling my membership and not throwing my annual tournament out there that makes them tons of money. Dumb bitch.
I’ll hit on the range every now and then but won’t ever give them any money to play the course. I’ll pay $100’s for a round so expensive golf doesn’t bother me, but $80 for Stonebridge is an absolute joke.

Imagine giving someone 250K and going out and seeing a leaking fountain that looked like a 5 year old built, sacks of quikrete for cart path repairs, retaining wall built with 2x4's and galvalume and a Hargrove roof

Sure why not
Went out there after work one day on a Monday and just slipped my mind they were closed on Mondays for maintenance. It's not a day I normally went out there. But drove out there and was like well I'll just chip and putt for a little bit since I'm here. They weren't doing maintenance anymore if they even did it that day, certainly didn't cut the grass on the worst putting green in Louisiana or change the cup locations that were beat to death. Didn't think it was that big deal.
I've been out there for 15 minutes or so and look over and this lady is hollering from the tennis courts and comes running. Didn't even think it was in relation to me at first but she comes up to me grilling me about what I'm doing out here, how they're closed. Said I was sneaking on to the course trying to play for free. Just ranting and raving. I told her I was a member and just forgot they were closed on Monday and was just going to putt around for a little bit. That was a big hell no for her. She got on the phone to call her husband and said she was going to call security.
I was like lady, did you not hear me, it was an accident and I was only putting on the practice green. AND IM A MEMBER. I'm not sneaking on the course trying to play for free. She can call David Martinez if she wanted to (the GM at the time) or look at my member sticker on my truck. She gets her phone out, starts recording me, asking for my full name, goes over to my truck, records my truck and license plate number. That set me off. I told her to "Hey, fricking record this, I'm cancelling my membership (was up for renewal in a month fortunately) and will never have another tournament out here because of you you dumb bitch."
I don't think I've ever been so hot in my whole life
Turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it led me to Texarkana CC, a course 10x as nice, who stopped accepting new memberships a few months after I joined.

Mother of god.
On the TCC note, a couple of my friends cancelled their Stonebridge memberships and moved over there at some point in time.

It was probably when I did. It's been maybe a year and a half now. The GM told me he had a 4-5 guys from Bossier/Stonebridge joining and he through me in with them and got me a discounted initiation fee. It's so nice out there.
It comes with a membership to Northridge CC as well and for a while I heard people talk about it like it wasn't nothing special so I probably went six months before I ever played it. It's actually really nice too and would be the best course around here outside of Southern Trace.

Not to keep piling on - played Olde Oaks yesterday afternoon and OP is right. The only green decent is 4. Literally 40-50% grass /weeds on every green.
Said I wouldn’t come back last time a few months ago and only went cause it was so late and it’s close. Plus $26 for 9 holes - big problem.
I will say when I called the pro shop I asked them if there was any improvement, and she said honestly NO. She wasn’t lying Lol
At the rate this course is going I wouldn’t be surprised if they are closed within a year

Olde Oaks has been in rough shape for a few years now. Refuse to play out there but did play in the LSUS tournament out there this past fall. It's bad when you can't find your ball in the fairway or just off the fairway. Greens weren't that bad in the fall but again I'm not going back out there willingly.
Stonebridge is in great shape right now so at least they are doing good with that
Played Crooked Hollow last weekend, greens were great but fairways weren't the best. All they had to do was mow the fairways and it would have been great
Nortwood was good 2 months ago...haven't been out there since but I love that course

Back nine is probably the most fun layout in town. Along with the Oaks (closed) nine at Olde Oaks.
