Hot take : Clemson’s d line is getting massively overrated heading into this game

Does their unit have a lot of talent ? Sure . Have they exactly been dominant yet as a unit ? Far from it.
Yes they gotta new DC so we will see first hand how they look with a new coordinator at the helm but against Texas, Louisville, South Carolina and citadel, they allowed a an average of 264 rushing yards per game and 10 rushing touchdowns allowed total. They straight up got manhandled by Texas for 4 quarters. Yes our o line will be brand new starters but we will have some absolute large humans up front.
Tyree Adams is 6’7 310, Weston Davis is 6’6 317, DJ Chester is 6’6 320 and will finally be playing his natural position of guard, Josh Thompson is 6’5 301. Young guys like carrius curne and coen echos who can easily find themselves starting with their talent level are 6’5 335 and 6’3 316 respectfully. Braelin Moore our smallest offensive lineman who’ll be a starter and he’s a steady 6’2 300 pds which imo is the perfect body type for a center. Physically, we match up with Clemson up front it’s simply a matter of Brad Davis finding the right 5 man combination.

I have zero faith in the offensive line. We had two draft picks (one being a top 5) and they still could not run the ball. Brad Davis has a very hot seat going into this season.

Same with UCLA in the season opener a few years ago. They were supposed to dominate both lines of scrimmage and UCLA did not back down.

FSU did the same twice

What happened in the other games that you did not cherry pick?

Well they had a ridiculously soft schedule last year so I pick those teams cuz it was actually notable competition outside of citadel. Their stats against SMU were also not very good they allowed 458 yards of total offense including 154 rushing yards. They gave up 447 yards of total offense and 169 rushing yards vs Georgia. The rest of their schedule were unranked ACC cupcakes they didn’t even have to play Miami, Syracuse or Georgia tech

They couldn’t stop run last season
LSU couldn’t run the football
Will see what gives

Do you think there is any part of LSU’s team that is massively overrated?

I dont think as much is being made ab the new DC.
Brand new scheme is going to come in and execute flawlessly vs a high octane offense? Nahh
The locked on Clemson guy thinks they are gonna run right through our O-Line and didn't even mention Josh Thompson in his analysis

It would be really tough to fire him with the way he is recruiting though.
Not sure what the solution is.

Our interior line was not good at run blocking, and center was a position of great weakness last year. We will be very good at Center this year. The Tackles did a good job pass blocking. You clearly don't understand the pieces of our OL last year.

they absolutely did.
Florida State was a joke. Miami was also helped by a very easy schedule.
Clemson got into the playoffs 100% due to their joke of a schedule.

Clemson’s DL is very loaded and deep. It’s not all about our guys being inexperienced, it’s about scheme and formation.
Getting enough yards to be in third and short will be key. Also, having speed with Hilton and Brown to keep safeties out of the box will help. The pass will set up the run, but in 3rd and short we have to be able to get the first downs. I don’t care if we have our version of the tush-push and ju’juan Johnson comes in. Just move the chains.

TJ Parker is the real deal but Peter Woods is overrated imo. Heldt is a wait and see as he was on a terrible Purdue team but had decent production

Thompson was really damn good in the big ten. Only gave up 2 sacks in 2 years

I hope so because we have a brand new offensive line who are not used to playing together.
