Wife and I are going look at a 2023 GMC Acadia this week. Has anyone owned one of these? If so, how did you like it and do you think it's enough space for traveling with two kids in car seats that need a stroller? That is the biggest reason for us getting a new car is need for more space. TIA

Absolutely not enough. You want a Traverse at a minimum. They used to be the same size but GMC scaled down the Acadia while Chevy scaled up the Traverse a few years ago.

If you aren't done having kids, just bite the bullet and get a minivan now. You'll never worry about having space again

I think that second generation Acadia was a bit smaller than the first gen and third gen (in production now). You may want to do a little research and perhaps consider Chevy Traverse as that remained on the larger body.

This is a loaded question. My mom had a 87 and 93 cherokee/grand cherokee which are positively tiny by today's standards. We fit just fine, along with a large dog. Every friday we'd load up a s***load of groceries, kids, and dog and head for the camp. No problem.

By today's standards most moms would freak and consider it a micromachine. I guess it depends on what you want to do with it. Cross country drives, support a camp, or just go to the mall and nearby restaurants. Scenario A, might not work. Scenario B, should be fine.

Then why are you getting an Acadia? Try a sienna or a Carnival. Both are going to give you more of what you want and last longer

The newer Carnivals have that old school SUV/Suburban look with Minivan room.

I was going to get a sienna when it was time but will probably go the carnival route now.
Better warranty, better look, better safety.

I was once in the "I'll never own a Minivan" camp.

Once you let yourself experience one you'll realize how wrong you were. They are awesome.

I hate how the new odyssey's look though. Like a minivan crossed with a hearse. Ugh

I’m getting an Odyssey or Sienna. Mainly because of the reliability of Honda and Toyota

That's why I'm asking the question. It's bigger than what we have now but I wanted other opinions on if it is big enough.

My dad had one. The battery was under the floorboard on back row. I’d get a Honda Pilot over the GM. Wife is on her third one. She has put 300k trouble free miles combined on all 3.

Bad marks for reliability and owner satisfaction. Minor transmission problems. Some problems with In-Car Electronics. Good luck.

Sienna I can totally understand. It looks like a minivan. Fine. That's what it is and it's reliable.

But an Odyssey?

Ugly as sin. All the worst visual qualities of a minivan amplified. It's a frankenvan. Looks like a suppository.

Plus it's a Honda. Look, they make decent motorcycles but I've heard too many horror stories. Plus you are only getting 60k miles on the PT warranty.

Toyota I'd deal with. Definitely not a Honda though.

Do NOT go with an Acadia.

Like I said, Carnival or Sienna are what you want. I've done a ton of research trying to help my mom find a new vehicle. If you want more space, get something that actually has more space. You'll thank yourself later. Acadia is a half step measure you will come to regret, plus there are engine issues that will plague you.

It’s a mini van, I don’t really give a shite what it looks like. I want reliability. You mentioned Kia, which is crazy when speaking about reliability.

2 SUVs in 6 years is hardly enough to make a statement

well, if your intent is to drive something until it dies of course you're going to have issues, 3-4 years is usually enough for me
